So I recently got this MJT Jazzcaster/telemaster which came loaded with BKP Piledrivers. The Piledrivers are great pickups but I wanted more of a humbucker bridge tone so in come a Seymour Duncan custom shop Pearly Gates for Tele and an Antiquity tele neck set. The guitar came with 4 way tele switching and a treble bleed already installed which I decided to keep. The 4 way switching is fantastic and I suggest anyone with a tele give it a shot. This pickup combo and the switching options (bridge, bridge and neck in parallel, neck, bridge and neck in series) makes for a great and versatile tone offering. I did have to mod the antiquity by removing the strap from the nickel cover to the black wire and adding a direct ground wire to the nickel cover tab of the pickup.

I use Alnico II pros in nearly all my guitars. This is my first go with a pearly gates. The pg is certainly more spongy and vintage sounding than the AIIP which is tighter in the bottom and a little more present in the mids/treble to my ears. That being said, for raucnhy blues/rock/hard rock, this set up is a keeper. The bridge/neck in series is a phenomenal tone option and just tons of fun to play on. The one thing I still want to do is drill a hole in the plate and add a toggle for coil splitting the pearly to get even more tone options. If you have a tele or Jazzcaster that leaves you wanting just a bit more, try this setup out, it will not disappoint...
