There seems to be something spicy on the top end of the NBKing. Did you boost the Elmwood too?

Since you boosted the Randall I'm not really able to learn much from the video. Hope you do an unboosted video.

yep, boosted on one and not the other is not really apples to apples comparison.

That Suhr tiger stripe is lovely! I'm seriously gassing for it. The price tag in Europe here is enormous though (4,480 euro's = around USD 5,960). How would you compare the neck to a Jackson Soloist or Ibanez RG?

I like the Tone you got from the Randall. Was never a big Elmwood fan. Had the M90 for a minute.
Your Suhr Tiger is just sick Bro...

Why would you boost the Randal, when it has a built in solo channel "channel" which is Nuno's boost built into it? It was designed to be like his Marshall with a built in rat. Doesn't it defeat the purpose to do that? I guess what I am asking is do you not like the boost that was built in? or the design of the amp? I only ask since you are using it to recreate Nuno's tone and not your own.

Good question Yes, the Lead boost channel 3 to me is unusable. The amp requires earth shattering volume for that channel to get that percussive Nuno tone. That's why I kinda favor the Elmwood.

I guess I could have used an overdrive closer to the Rat but the Koko works for me.

Also, the "feel" of the amp doesn't really translate in clips. I find the Elmwood easier for me to play and less technique is needed to control unwanted string noise.

That makes sense then. My Riveras have great boost channels too, however, I tend to use different boost channels instead depending on what I am going for. Keep in mind I am an apt player (gasp) and play at low volume. Both amps are on attenuators at all times. In fact, on my KHR 55, I tend to use channel 2, which sounds the most like a Marshall to me and dial the gain back to about 6 and boost with either my Fulldrive, the Nova Drive, or the amp itself. That is for my sound though. I was curious about going for Nuno's tone with his gear....but I didn't factor in volume.

The Elmwood sounds way better, IMO. More organic, less fizzy.

So the lead channel is useless period or only because it has to be turned up? I see quite a few of these amps on the used market. Guess more people feel the same thing. I wonder if he even uses them live or if it is a Lynch type endorsement?

Randall boosted sounds better.. as Nuno used to boost anyway, that's probably more Nuno tone right there.

Not digging the tones of either of those amps.
Transistor tone right there......tranny tone?
