I wonder if they replaced the grillcloth and used staples/wood nails....do you see signs of staples or nails? No on all counts. It's playing hardball. I called Scumback Jim but he must be out in the shop. Struggling here fellas...
Only thing I noticed is that the handles are the 90's carvin handles (which could be replacements) and has the old Carvin badge. But the cloth kinda looks too new/good condition to match the wear on the cab. Would be cool to open it and find some g12-65's or somethingNo, it looks stock to me. I tried finding pics of a cab like this and it must be old, nothing like it. It weighs 4000 lbs
How do know they're from the 90's and not older? Here's a quote I found on another site...Only thing I noticed is that the handles are the 90's carvin handles (which could be replacements) and has the old Carvin badge. I am going by when Carvin began using that font. It was early/mid 90's, if I can remember. The badge on the front of the cab is the older Carvin badge. So I am thinking someone either replaced the handles, or it's a 90's cab someone retolexed and put on an old badge. How do know they're from the 90's and not older? Looks like one of the older cabs before they switched over to carpeted covering at the end of the 80s. I had an '89 carpeted one, and it was built like a tank - all ply (no MDF/Particle). Loved it. Great, tight sound from what I can remember, but a lot would obviously depend on what speakers are in there.
Hmm..any FL cab I’ve owned, there’s usually a ‘tab’ of cloth somewhere along the grill edge that you pull, and off it comes. But, the older Fender Tonemaster cabs you’d have to get a flathead screwdriver and pry it off gently
