Just bought this cab loaded with Mesa Black Shadows for $500, good deal or no?

We're in Canada, you have to add at least 200 bucks to American 'good deals' :D

Well then yes, its a good deal.

Dave has had tones of these cabs. I have one. Mine has 2 MC90s in the top and 2 EV EVM-12L's in the bottom. I prefer having both sections closed with my mark IVA, though I like the cleans on the mark IVA a bit better with the top section opened. I find this cab works at least well with all my amps, not something I can say for my other cabs.

Hope you don't have to move the cab much. Its a beast. The castors don't look original to me, but look pretty heavy duty.

Right on, to tell ya the truth, it's not really about the deal, in deal equation land, I'm really only $400 out of pocket for this after picking up and old Marshall cab and selling it in pieces, just looking for a little peace of mind. I'm pretty stoked to pick it up well, not literally 'pick' it up and run my Roadster through it. I'm hoping the place I bought it from just told me that it had 4 black shadows becasue they were too lazy to take the back off to check the bottom speakers. Really hoping for those EVM-12L's.

Another question, is it anywhere near worth the money if I go pick it up and find eminence speakers in the bottom?

Hopefully those are MS-12's. I think they are from the pictures. Can you read what the side of the tag says on the magnet?

The cab I had came used to me with 2 MS-12's on the top and 2 EV-EVM12L's on the bottom. One EVM-12L was blown, so I got it replaced. I replaced the MS-12's with the Celestion MC-90's cause I thought they would be better and sold the MS-12's. Big mistake, the MS-12's sounded great, I just thought I would prefer the MC90 celestion speakers. I should mention that 2 MS-12's on the top and 2 EVM-12L;s on the bottom was not a stock configuration to my knowledge. Mesa would use on the bottom either EVM-12L's, MS-12's or MC-90's.

I would actually like to pick up some eminence MS-12's in the future. There were some for sale on ebay recently, but funds are tight for me right now.

I looks like the tolex and corners where replaced on that. Those old cabs usually had that rough tolex, not taurus like new recto cabs. I want one of these cabs for my mesa rack setup, I have the chance to get one for 250$ :D

that's what mine has. four ms12's. to bad i havn't picked up a guitar in a year.

My 1/2 back is my drag around and abuse cab, sounds great and takes a shit load of abuse. Loaded with mc90s, I like it.

I have 7 of them and I plan on selling them. How much did they go for on ebay?

FWIW, I think the Eminence MS12 is better sounding than the EVM12L. The MS12 is smoother at all volumes... the EVM can get very bright at low volumes.

One went for $112.50 with free shipping. He tried to sell it before at $129.00 with $20 shipping and got no bids. If you sell them yet me know, I will scrape together some funds. I am looking for a pair.

would love to find two bottoms, as i have 2 slants... love the cabs.. can take a lot, and look killer.

Should have asked the gang before you purchased it. Probably not worth $500 and is hideous.

Sorry man... :(

So, brought my head in to try it out at the shop, holy shit. Best cab I've, heard, even better than my Mills. Needless to say, I took it home.
FWIW, you will never find a quality cab in Canada for 250-300, it just doesn't happen. I just sold a beat up(to shit) 90's Marshall 1960AX UNLOADED for $250.

Agreed. Our American Rig-Talk friends need to cut us Canadians some slack!

For example, when we buy a $1,000 head from the U.S., we have to pay 13% tax when it crosses the border + the UPS/FedEx brokerage charges. That turns a $1,000 head into a $1,200 head in the blink of an eye.

Now the reality is, who buys a $1,000 head?.....

Typically, I'd be spending $2,000 to $3,500 for a head. Think about it - a $3,500 head (like my incoming CCV) is going to throw off an additional $455 in taxes and $85 in brokerage charges when it comes into Canada. That makes the $3,500 purchase price into $4,040!!! Yikes!!!
