put it real simple.... I have spent a whole afternoon with a Herbert MKI with Ruby EL34s and a front loaded 212 cab(V30s) and now I am lusting after this amp. Seriously I've never been this way with a darn amp ever before! You know when you get goose bumps, the hairs on the back of your neck stand out AND you can do nothing but smile - sort of a stupid grin!

Man this amp does everything I need from it - no questions asked. I was amazed at how a 180watt amp can sound good at all db levels. It can go from amazing cleans to balls out gain - I could dial tones straight away. Something I've not been able to do with many other amps.

I posted a while ago asking if I could get the Einstein to play the sort of blues/rock/metal that I'm being asked to play... well I'm sorry but I need to sell my Einstein combo and a load of other kit to fund this Herbert move darn quickly.

I know this amp is costly, but its almost like, who the hell cares when you know you've hit a 'sweet spot'!

Send me a list of what you have. Trust me on this, get the new Herbert MKII which is Papas reworking of the Herbert MK1. It is crazy good.

Thank You so much, Monty !

You are welcome... I'm not usually one for posting about my feelings - but your amp has had an emotional impact on me.

I like my Einstein combo for what it does, as it does it well BUT the Herbert is something v/special !

I'm not a wealthy guy and I'm an okay sort of guitar hack that gigs with some old buddies, but I just know I need to live off bread and water for a few months to fund this LOL.

King Guitar - if the MkII is even better (although at the moment I cannot see how?) then I will aim high and for the MkII.

Okay... I've been thinking lots about the Herbert. My instinct/heart is saying just go for the Herbert and don't hang around because life is too short.

The only thing that is an issue (although I'm not sure if it is) is that the amp will spend a lot of time at small gigs, home studio/practicing and will only be given the chance once in a while to play in a venue where it can really open up. AND I will have to sell my gorgeous Einstein combo to fund the Herbert.

I know lugging a Herbert around with a 212 is going to be back breaking, but a small price to pay? I know the Herbert is darn amazing at low volumes and the MV is one of the best, so I shouldn't have concerns about the amp going from practicing to gigs.

So, I guess I have no excuses, do I???? I need to pull the trigger on the MKII.
