One humbucker, one volume...

I've heard of that before with EVH's guitar. I do like the clean look of a single pickup, just not it's limitations. Though there are these fishman pickups in a guitar I just got that have 2 humbucker voices and a single coil. So, that would be pretty good. Sorry, I know that's probably a bit off your intentions with your post. Thanks for sharing!

Because of that title I thought that it's actually about an interesting topic (guitar electronics instead of the same old boring VH tone questions) but I didn't stop reading until a narcisstic influencer psycho was mentioned and the webdesign (image sizes ffs) is quite atrocious, even for early 2000s standards. Didn't know a page this bad was even possible with Wordpress.

Different caps, inductors, pots or active EQs combined with one pickup can offer way more versatility than those two EQ voicings on a fluence pickup or even a run of the mill HSS/HSH wiring.
