One of the first Diezels ever made?!

Hey guys, new here, just looking at getting a Diezel and then I spotted this amp for sale for a very reasonable price. Just wondering if anybody can shed some light on a few things:

Is it a genuine Diezel prototype?

What currently produced Diezel amp would it sound most like?

Is it possible to get it modded to produce current Diezel sounds (i.e. VH4 or Herbert)?

Is it rare and/or valuable?

I know nothing about this amp and neither does the current owner except that its mono and 100w, and he says it was made in 1991(!), three years before the first production models of Diezel amps came out. The more info you can provide, the better - if it's the real deal and will give me Diezel tones (especially high gain tone), I will almost certainly buy it.

Cheers!

You should not expect the low end and gain of the current models.
But it´s sure a collector.

Hi Peter,

I've been using the amp pictured for a few weeks since buying it and absolutely love it, though I hope to get a VH-4 one day also.

I wondered if you could tell me what the amp started life as? And when it was likely modded by you?

Thanks very much

Post some sound clips...It would be great to hear it!

It should be built around the early 90s

Peter, I really love this prototype amp and am really getting used to the 3 and a half channels now - the 2nd and 3rd channel give me beautiful "Tool" style modern low gain sounds.

Just wondering - did the amp start life as a JTM45 head? The design of the display panel leads me to believe it probably did, but I wanted to check.

Hey dude. I bought it in New Zealand, off our version of eBay. I really love it - even just jamming at home it has everything I need and more. I wish it had reverb, but that's it - otherwise it's got a great, full clean, a killer high gain sound, and not one but two great sounds between those two extremes, both of which are highly usable. The thing that I keep finding with the amp is its SO usable - it's really practical and full of stuff I'll actually use. There's three EQ sections for the four channels which is perfectly adequate for my requirements. I've been looking at a cheap Bogner XtC101B, not to replace but just for something different, but I kind of feel like it would get left in the corner as I just love this amp so much now! I use it with a mesa 2x12 recto cab and that's a perfect match.
