For those who own or have owned the Splawn Quickrod, what do you think of the clean channel? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Clean channel is great. You need to turn up the gain on it to get it to fatten up. That's where some owners fail.

Depends...speakers and year? Newer ones after 2011 kick ass. Older ones still good. Not supurb. Still crushes a 5150 for cleans.

Yes, but not even close to the 5153 cleans.

True. I have both, 5150III cleans are better than the splawn, but it should being fender and having 6L6's

I agree that it is not a Fenderish clean but works well for me. And it takes my Bogner Wessex overdrive well for those lightly distorted tones.

After Scott upgraded the clean channel, it is able to get WAY more clean than earlier models.
I have a 2006 that is just AWESOME, yet the clean is more AC/DC than Fender, if you get my meaning...it's got grissle, not super clean.
Then, I got a 2013 QR with the B+ option, the effects loop volume control, and the 4-button footswitch. Man, this baby has great cleans AND the effects control allows you to turn up the MV and keep the overall volume lower...gets excellent tones all around at a variety of volumes.

Overall, it depends on your needs, yet the QR has a very good clean channel and you can use the clean channel with a pedal to get quite a few tones with differing gain levels.

I think the clean on my QR is fantastic. It does very pristine clean and edge of breakup tones well and isn't harsh or muddy. Just a great functional clean channel.

I had a Nitro the first year it came out...not sure what year this was but Scott told me it's the same cleans as the QR....sucked...from what I understand he's upgraded it since then so I can't speak to the new ones.
