I'm looking into "travel" style guitars, like Steinberger-ish. Anyways, I'm looking at buying a Speedloader and having Gutierrez build me a guitar out of it, nothing special, just something real simple I can use as a beater, and take on trips and keep at work.

I'm looking at the FR Speedloader Fixed Bridge.

Any Good?

its a set bridge, NOT a trem.

and I need it without headstock, and as much of a body. I need to be able to pack it up in a nice small package. hence the speedloader instead of traditional.

I have one of those $149 Floyd Rose guitars with a speedloader and it works exactly like a normal Floyd as far as sound/feel when using it. Seems to work great to me. I say go for it since you can build a travel guitar that won't need a headstock...

edit: whoops, haven't tried the fixed bridge - but the trem works great...

nah....GC carries them as well as MF, AMS, Music123, the Floyd Rose site, and a TON of other online retailers. :D

Why do you need a travel guitar? I logged about 27,000 miles this year and brought alone the GMWs, Hamers, Ibanez 7 stringer, etc.

Brought them right into the cabin

It's more for work....I have alot of downtime there, and am wanting a guitar to keep there along with a pocket pod, for those times when I'm just sitting around.

Go with the steinberget spirit, easy to mod and swap pups on, and the bridge lock if you want the set neck thing.

I have a chicklet body one, and its a great beater to keep around, and with a gibson dirty fingers in the neck and a bill lawrence L-500 in the bridge it screams (coil tapped, of course ;) )

I was originally going to go that route, but Brent and I talked about it, and he told me that if I could pick up a speedloader that he'd build me one out of some spare stuff he had laying around.....
