I can buy either amp today. The rev blue is mint with foot switch, metal grill and a road case.
The original is an early serial#, metal grill, mint from the original owner.
There is a $250 price jump from the blue to the original.

I've owned a rev blue. Loved it. Is there any reason besides collectibility that I should lean towards the original ?

Thanks!

The Rev Blue is a great amp. The difference in my opinion is the the Rev blue is a little tighter and a little brighter but still awesome. I have owned all versions of the uber. There isnt one I dislike!

FPNI. The Rev 2 is going to be darker and somewhat saggier (but not much), and IMO is the most "organic" sounding of all the iterations of the amp. The Rev Blue will be brighter, more Marshall in its character, and a bit tighter. Honestly I'd get the Rev 2 simply because they aren't made any more and the tone is a bit more unique.

Just to be clear there is no rev 2 on the table.
I am choosing between a blue and a 2002 first run über.
That's the one I have not been able to find much info on.

Very similar to the Rev 2

Im 99% sure the only difference between original and rev 2 is the more gradual taper of the distortion channels gain pot on the rev 2. If i remember right, bogner will send this to you.

Ive played both, and definitely prefer the bigger, darker tone of the rev 2. The rev 2 can still sound plenty marshall-like if you turn up the mids and presence. If we're voting, i say rev 2. Its got a unique sound that is not in production anymore. The rev 2 also has a little give in its feel that makes it really responsive when you dig into your guitar.

Only difference is the gain taper.

That clears things up quite a bit, thank you.

Plus, an original Uber might be worth a bit more than a Rev 2.

You can always find a Rev Blue for sale, you can't always find an original uber. Considering there were only 100 something made, the rarity alone makes it more desirable to me between the two. Do you happen to know the serial # of the original?

Wow. Going back over this, i see i wasnt very clear. What i basically mean is that i would definitely choose the original over the rev blue. The original is virtually the same as a rev 2, and i like its tones over the blue. Hope that helps. YMMV

Grab the original, you'll love it! Really nice amp.

By original you mean "First Revision or REV-1", right??  ...hehehehe :emofag: :grim:

I bought them both. I picked up the blue a few days ago and the early bird is getting shipped out to me this weekend.
I love the blue, it's my kind of gain. It has a ton of bass. Very tight. I am hoping the other one will have a little more sag like you guys have said. The person I bought it from sent my a clip and it sounds killer. A bit more open than the blue which is pretty compressed.

What's up with the gain taper? Is it really an issue? I run the gain at 1 o'clock on the blue. Pretty much just leave it there and use my guitar volume.

Here's the blue

Haha.... well there is one way to solve the problem! Buy them both!!! Congrats! The gain taper thing is basically there is not much sweep in the gain control its almost like on and off but not that bad shouldn't be an issue especially if you utilize guitar volume.

The taper is a non-issue if you plan to use it for high gain/metal tones. It becomes a little more difficult to work with if you're aiming for a mid-gain tone, but it's still achievable.
