OT : cold medicine

i'm here at work w/ a killer cold...

what do you guys use to stop a runny nose?

dunno about "stop", but paracetamol normally makes you feel a bit better, and can help a little with fever too. Though i think it's mainly making you feel better rather than actually making you better. that might work, anyway. as long as you aren't allergic, or taking anything else with paracetamol (don't want liver failure!)...

For a runny nose you need an antihistamine -- something that will dry you you like Claritin, Bendryl, CTM, etc. You can buy these over the counter and talk to a pharmacist if you have questions.

If you are congested you need something like Sudafed. Not Sudafed PE, that stuff sucks. My drug of choice for allergies, cold, cough stuff is Claritin D. It has an antihistamine and Sudafed in it. Get he 24 hour kind. Works great.

I haven't had to take a single pill since I started irrigating my sinuses. Before I bought this machine, it was with a baby aspirator. It's a half tsp salt to a quart of water. Me and my dad have nasty sinus issues. He also irrigates his sinuses and hasn't taken those cold pills in a couple years.

Walgreens is my dealer -- I use Waltrin-D 24 hour.

I like Aleve cold & sinus or its generic equiv. always gets me through the day for just about every cold symptom. other stuff I usually end up taking 2-3 things to feel decent. Aleve, I don't need anything else with it.
