I am getting ready to order a set of MCP Afwayus to put into a McInturff Taurus Sportster, and can't decide if I want covers or not. The guitar is all mahogany body, mahogany neck with IRW fingerboard, so I thought it may benefit from not having covers - i.e. more high end without them - but I know Wade has said that he compensates the wind for the covers, so is it really just a cosmetic issue?? Any opinions appreciated...

Thanks!
Rick

Get the covers man. I have a Heritage Les Paul w/ afwayus w/ nickel covers, and it's plenty of bite on the high end!!!

On a similar topic, I have a set of Torques and Blissterbuckers that I am selling if anyone wants them, let me know!

I'd buy the blissters but well I get them pretty cheap. But then again Wade is so busy I don't want to take sales where he makes money away from him!

Eric - How do the Blissters compare with the Afwayus?

The blissters and the Afwayus have about the same amount of gain. But that's where the similarities start to end :). The Afwayus have a bit of "mid-scooped" tone and have more low end. Both have awesome sparkle on the top end. The Afwayus in the neck has this buttery tone that I just love. The Blissters have a bit more vintage vibe to them, but hotter, and more mid-range. Lots of bite, punch, and depth. I really liked them, but not for the guitar I wanted to put them in. I had the same issue with the Torques. They were killer pickups. The Torques I would put in an SG anyday, for that vintage vibe. Great mid-gain pickups. The Blissters are similar to the Torques in tonal spectrum, but are hotter, and have a bit more growl to them. I just don't need to buy a 10th or 11th electric guitar for these pickups :). The Afwayus are my favorite pickup from Wade so far though. I use it in a Heritage Les Paul (the old Gibson master Luthiers from Kalamazoo, MI Heritage company) that is a mahogany body w/ a maple top, and a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.

I'd love to get a oiled mahogony body w/ a mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard to put either the blissters or torques in, but I just can't justify a 10th or 11th guitar, so they have to go :(.

I think I'm getting covers for my Torque's for my LP. I have a set that I'm borrowing from Jason and they sound fantastic in my LP for the stuff I play. Love them........much better than the BBQ/Texas set I had in there before.

So I vote for covers!!

:( I wish mine had covers  and ya they do an SG justice

Another vote for the covers! Wade will make a pretty cool custom cover too. I am beyond happy with Wade's stuff so far.

I love Torque in my Moon. Splitted or full it's just amazing!

That's one bitching guitar :). Might have to build me a Tele like that w/ a bucker in the neck and a tele bridge pup :)
