Well, not completely new...He has been in our house for a week and a half now, but he is awesome! His name is Koa and he is a Portuguese Water Dog (a breed I grew up with). He will be 10 weeks old tomorrow and currently weighs about 15 pounds. When it is all said and done he will be around 60 to 65 pounds. He is actually one of the smartest puppies I have worked with as by 9 weeks he already had three commands down (sit, down, and drop it) and was retrieving with regularity (when he is a bit older I plan to put a water title on him, which is essentially a series of obedience/retrieving/diving tests in the water). I know its not guitar related, but just wanted to share! Simply an awesome dog

Congrats...seems like quite the smart fella.

Thanks! He definately is, which is a good and bad thing   We are having a hard time containing him in the kitchen at night right now because he figure out that he could actually scale the baby gates we were using, so we have to use boxes left over from our move this past week to keep him in! I know it won`t be long before he figures out how to open cabinets and drawers!

My golden retriever was not like that when we contained him. He's a smart fellow but just too loyal and filled with guilt to do anything wrong. If he did that, he'd most likely come to me with his tail in between his legs. The guilty bit is in the breed though so yeah.

That's a cute puppy man!!
I wish I could get a dog but I live in an apt and most days I spend 12+ hours away from home.

Crate train the dog. We did it with our two beagles and they are very well contained when we need them to be.

That dog looks so cute :) I love dogs! Be sure to keep him away from your guitar stuff, when I first got my dog he chewed up a bunch of my cables/wires/headphones and it sucked. Congrats on the new dog!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Oh, he is essentially crate trained, but if he is awake and wants to play and knows that you are in the next room...Well, he is going to join you!  Since we were in the middle of moving we had originally built a box wall (about 3 feet high) and had given him a box to play with as they are (strangely) one of his favorite toys. Needless to say, that was a mistake. Within 5 minutes he had flipped the box so the open side was down, pushed it up against the retaining wall, and was on top of it about to get on top of the overall wall! He is just a very social, and very smart little guy. He is really good in a crate, with very little whining, just if there is a way for him to get to you he will try it!

He is pretty good with the guitar stuff so far. I have had this particular breed essentially my entire life (my mom is a breeder/trainer for her free time, we had 12 of them at one point!) and the essential rule with these guys is out of sight = in trouble. They are very curious, and love to investigate /play with new things

Dude, I'm a huge dog fan...congrats, that's a pretty cool looking pup!!! :D

Thanks guys! He is pretty unusual for his breed...They are typically all black with some white markings, while this guy is about 50/50!

Man thats a cute dog! Just keep him away from any live cables that he could chew on...

My girlfriends dog, when he was only less than a year old, decided to chew on anything and everything in sight.. only oneday he tried to eat the Vacuum cleaner and he took an electric shock that threw him across the room! Crazy dog got back up without a mark on him and walked away LOL. But now he is terrified of the vacuum cleaner. Everytime you use it, he runs away and hides in the bedrooms :D

That's a damn fine lookin' pup. You just got a friend for life.
