P.A. setup.. Compressor/Limiter/Gate

So I am looking at getting one of those DBX compressor/limiter/gate type units for our P.A. at the band rehearsal studio.

Anyone has any experience with these effects units ?

Do I wire it up inline between the mixer and power amp ? I am mainly looking at the gate and limiter functions.

Dude, just buy a decent digital mixer. It will have gates, compression, EQ, low and high pass filters and FX on each channel strip.
