On VHT Classics they have been running live stuff from LZ past. Page's live playing is horrific, annoying and the most sloppy electric guitar playing in the history of the instrument.

The only thing that I can think of that the guy is really known for (if this) is posing a little better then that other absolute piece if trash – slash and his faggot gay as singer rose.

And plant - he can't even be called a vocalist, only another poser. He's always off key and way out of his range.

Oh come on! I might not agree with the poster but this logic is completely silly. One doesn't need to exceed someone in skill level to critisize, otherwise music would be a competition.

I don't need to be a master chef to say I don't like food I pay for. I don't need to be an award winning director to say Fight Club sucked. I don't need to be a journalist to call a newspaper crap. Why do I need to be a master guitarist to fault someone's playing?

Granted, continual negativity helps no one, but just because someone hasn't sold millions of albums doesn't make them inherintly wrong, nor does it validate their point.

The point is LZ is a money making band and in many eyes a benchmark of that style of music. They have made a very good living playing as professionals and could live off of the sales of their recordings CD's etc easily. Most can't say that. Page was the man back in his day and built his band upon the likes of Cream Traffic and the big British bands of the time. His playing today may never spark the fire it did when his was a kid but he still did it and lived the dream of a lot of guitar players. Not many players can stay in the game as they get older, Chet Atkins was one who did and played well until the end, John Cash also recorded great stuff up to the end. The other thing is we all have our own personal tastes in what we like. I was watching the 2007 Clapton Crosswroads yesterday and thought Albert Lee taught them all a lesson and sent them back to school.
