Do you still use your AB Custom cab from Jesus?

I feel like I want one.

Thoughts?

So techically I use this cab more than he does because I am too lazy to carry my 2x12 to rehearsal.

Being perfectly honest, it sounds fine and gets the job done but thats about as far as it goes. It does not have good bass response and is just thin sounding compared to the Eggie cab.

I definitely think the Eggie 1x12 sounded better and bigger as well.

well, 1x12's are kinda finnicky. I was actually thinking about the 4x12.

I didn't know which one Nick had.

In defense of Jesus and his AB cabs,

#1. *I* spec'd out the dimensions of my 1x12.

and

#2. It has a single V30 in it.

I spec'd it out so that it would fit perfectly under my Mod50 head, as well as fit into the iso booth that I already have been using (since the Eggy 2x12 was about 2-3 inches too wide). So if there's anyone to blame for it sounding bad, it's me.

Construction wise, for the money, I think it's unbeatable. Real plywood, great tolex job, nice and neat. No super-deluxe handles or feet or corners. Just bare bones, but good wood used.

I'm sure the Eggy 1x12 will sound bigger because (drum roll please) it IS bigger.

BUT... due to the lack of big-thump on the bottom, It records exceptionally well, with less low end EQ ing.

I think another reason why it doesn't sound as full as I'd like is the single V30. Jeff has always said that they sound better in pairs, or quads. I'm currently looking for a new speaker for this cab. Perhaps something BIG sounding like a K100 would be a better match.

All that being said, his price, communication, and customer service was top notch, for me.

Not to drag up an old thread, but: Just wanted to give an update on my AB cab.

Last night, I swapped out the single V30 for a Celestion G12K-85 (precursor to the K100; slightly smaller magnet, slightly smaller tone...)

Sounded INCREDIBLE. Light years better than the single V30. Really big sounding, big tight bass, punchy mids, great presence that isn't icepicky at all. What a great speaker. I just ordered another 112 cab and I'm going to load that one with a K100. Jeff was right about a single V30. It just doesn't really cut it. Those speakers sound much better in pairs or quads.

I guess the moral of this story:

Just like the old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover: :

Don't judge a cab by it's speaker.

funny, I spec'ed some bizarre dimensions for my lopo 3x12. Sounded weird with some different speakers.

Sounds AWESOME with 2 K85's and one WGS BL80.
