i just got a dmoll shipped to me from another forum memeber and fed ex had its way with the amp a bit i think. at first the sound was cutting in and out and really thin with no gain. so i had a spare sett of jj kt 77 and out them in, much better, however im having this terrible popping on channel 2/3. ive tried cables, guitars, loop no loop. i did 2 vids one with the loop so you cold see my g major react and the second closer to the cab so you could hear the pop. ideas? preamp tubes?

Why start 3 times the same topic ???

Did you replace the preamp tubes ?

Best,
Peter

im not sure what you mean by starting the same topic 3 times, this is the first time i have ever posted in the diezel forum? i have not replaced the preamp tubes yet,and all other controls seem to be fine, is there a tube socket or sockets that specifically fwwd to channel 2/3? i did a search but couldnt pull anything up.

thanks

dave

Could be any of the first 3 preamp tubes. Start with a known good tube in V1 and work your way down. Assuming the seller sent it with the original tubes? Also, its a good ideal to make sure they are all seated well, and the power tubes after shipping. Are you changing channels manually or with a switcher?

Your topic was there 3 times and I deleted 2 of them.
No big deal, was just wondering.

Please get a 12AX7-C and replace the preamp tube from
V6 to V5 to V4 to V3. One of them seems to cause the
issue.

Good luck,
Peter

Hi all, I sold the head to pbfoot and am working with him to get this figured out. I never used the head much and it was only ever through a Two Notes Torpedo Live.

Steve, I did send it with original tubes to answer your question

Never had any popping issues on my end so this must have occurred during shipping. After chatting with pbfoot, and hearing his youtube videos, I wanted to put the one clip i recorded with this head up here as well. Just in case it helps with diagnosis, although there are no popping sounds on the clip from what i can hear. (diezel dmoll is rhythm and soldano slo is lead, both are through two notes torpedo live)

Probably just Fedex Football.....

thanks for all the help so far, not sure why i triple posted. i am at work but this afternoon im going to run tubes thru the preamp section, hopefully that clears up the issue. ill post the results

well i replaced all the preamp tubes with known good ones that i had on hand and after 15 minutes of playing it starts up. i have noticed it seems to be tied to the master volume 1 as far as activating it, when i turn it up the popping starts

happy to say that it is up and running, new tubes and peter's suggestion of "tightening" the tube sockets did the trick. thanks to all parties involved
