Parallel FX loop

Hi all,
Recently purchased an Einstein combo. Needless to say, what an incredible amp! Busts my nuts everytime I play it. Like having a plexi, JCM, Mesa, and Fender twin in one amp-just dial it in. Great job, Peter!

Anyway, enuff drooling, was wondering why I get a volume boost when using a pedal chain (delay, chorus, looper-all Boss) in the parallel FX loop? When I turn up the mix pot on the back, I get a fairly big jump in volume and it kind of adds a harshness to the tone. Is it related to the stomp boxes? Would I be better off with a TC rack unit (G-major,-sharp, etc), which I've been considering? Tried pedals in series loop, sounds better but prefer using parallel.

Thanks for any information, this forum rocks (no pun intended). :D

Please run only wet signals through the parallel loop.

Can you elaborate, I had kinda the same question and got kinda the same answer but still dont fully understand to be honest.

I think "wet" means the signal in the parallel loop with effects applied to it, making it "wet", not dry like the signal from the pre-amp going directly to the power amp with no effects.

So the boost I'm getting when increasing the mix pot is the loop signal added to the dry increasing the overall signal level to the power amp, I guess. If this is true, how would using a rack effect work better?

Wet in this case means ONLY effects signal. If you use an effects unit in the parallel loop you have to turn it's effect-mix (or whatever it is called) knob all the way up so that NO dry signal passes the unit. You will than have 100% effect at the effects return which you blend in with the mix pot at your Diezel.

The boost happens when you haven't set your effects unit to 100% wet setting because additional dry signal will be added along with the wet part.

You can't say that rack effects work better, but they usually have a overall mix setup where you can cut the dry signal passing through the unit, which makes it a little easier.

Well, it doesn't seem to matter if I set my effects level to 100% wet or maximum effect level, I still get that volume boost when increasing the mix pot above minimum level. I presume the effect level knob on my boss delay and chorus boxes is the effect-mix knob you're referring to. This kind of sucks cause I was really looking forward to adding some mild effects for leads. Unless I can find a workaround for the parallel fx loop, probably going to have to look for a different amp for that. Thanks for the info.

Problem solved! Picked up a Lexicon MX200 rack effect, running it in the serial loop. No tonesuck, reverbs/delays are excellent and pretty much 100% clean bypass. And only $200, can't beat that. Anyone wanna buy some Boss pedals?? :D

BTW, the Einstein does a mean-assed Plexi on channel 1-2!
