Passive vs. Reactive Attenuators

so this is the unit, that my comment "a league of it's own" offended you over? A unit with rumors of frying stuff? I get that you like it, but why so aggressive? I don't go around defending Fryette. If something is better, I'm interested in hearing about it, not defending someone's product. :dunno:
My online tone is aggressive, don’t read into it. You can’t offend me, trust me.

What you are saying is what annoys (not offends) me when reading about these boxes online. If something is better I’m interested in hearing about it. Just attenuating my signal isn’t enough, never mind ground breaking.

If another half dozen TAE users fried transformers I would prob still keep using the thing. Give me another option, not old tech rehashed again and again. I was using Hot Plates back in the late 90s, thought they were great. I had the Ho and Ultimate back when they came out in what, 2007-9? Amazeballs. Huge step forward. Two Notes was innovative when they first came out—combining a load box with IRs back around early/mid 2010s. That kinda blew my mind.

I think the TAE came out in 2019–I bought one immediately. I’m ready for the next step. Forward.

If you had just said, "this unit has so many more features, and is just as transparent as x", it would have peaked my interest. Regarding just attenuating my signal though, doing it in the most transparent way is 100% most important to me, so I understand we are looking at different purposes.

Sure

I don't really get it, I like both those artists. For an attenuator, I want something that gets as close to how it sounds at cranked volumes, without killing me. I like the Fryette stuff, and I never claimed it was better than your beloved TAE device. I have never tried it. I'm sorry to tell you, I'm allowed to have an opinion. You don't have to like it.

Of course you are, don’t get offended 😁 I’ve never played through a PS so I can’t comment on that, but as I said I’ve been playing tube amps for a long time. Not as long as Schon but as long as Joe lol. If the thing didn’t sound just like my amps cranked it wouldn’t have stayed. I’m pretty sure those two guys would agree.

The only reason I love the TAE is because it does so much and sounds so good. Whole package. Can’t wait for something even better. Glad you are enjoying the PS

If you had said that from the start, I would have already been researching it. And lets not be coy, you knew you were trying to be offensive.

it's cool, not much bothers me, but I'm not one to shy away from a disagreement either. If I'm wrong, I want to know why so I don't repeat myself. Anyone that thinks they know everything is a fool.

Not everyone that drove a Ford Pinto died in a fireball either.

What all does it do that the others don't? I haven't looked into any of these but considering something.

I guess I’m fortunate enough that I don’t equate a $348 amp tech repair bill to burning alive
