Was passing through another town yesterday and hit up one of the local pawn shops to see what they had. Found a couple of interesting things, but didn't buy either one of them since I just bought that Bogner.

First was a early 90's Ibanez. I'm pretty sure it was either a 440R or 540R Radius (what the Joe Satriani models are based on). It was definitely some type of "Radius" model. It was a H/S/S, Japanese F serial number, 22 fret neck and the neck pickup had been replaced with some type of Dimarzio blade single sized humbucker. But, it had position markers like I've never seen on any other Ibanez. It had dots, but they were like "two toned". The inside was definitely MOP, but it had an outer ring made of something else that kind of looked like metal (maybe brass). That's what really caught my eye as I'd never seen that before on an Ibanez. I wish now, I had taken a picture of it but I didn't think to do that at the time.

Second thing was a Kruse Disruption half stack. All white ala Randy Rhoads. I wasn't familiar but it looked legit, so I did a quick search on it. From what I found out, the Disruption head is basically Jens Kruse's take on Eddie's "brown sound". Looked just like any other four input, six knob Marshall but it had a "variac" switch on the front panel that would take it from 100W down to 5W which I thought was cool. These are all hand wired PTP. That one piqued my interest, but I need another "modded Marshall" style amp right now like I need another hole in my head.

Anyway, if there is anyone in the NW corner to lower mid-West area of Arkansas, or SW corner to lower mid-West area of Missouri that might be interested, let me know and I can PM you the location. They were running 25% off all guitars and amps, but not sure how long that is going to last.

So the Ibanez would have been around $675 with hard case and the Kruse would be around $2250 for the head/cab (with Greenbacks per some videos I found on Youtube).

My 540s is quite slick. Also found in a pawn shop. My only gripe is the sustain is weak. But it plays incredible. Kruse sounds like a deal. Last thing I need is another amp. But my wants are different than my needs

I wish the pawn shops around here had something good; usually junk when it comes to music gear. Maybe I need to check again...

There was a time I found a lot of good gear at good prices in pawn shops, but not in over a decade. My experience is they put the cheap stuff on the floor for more than it's worth, and sell anything good online, like the rest of us.

I recall around 2000, going to pawnshops and used music stores and picking up all kinds of gear to try out at home, and then flipped a lot of it on ebay for profit. Those days are long gone!

Most of the time, it's the usual junk. Sometimes you find something cool, but it's rare. But, it's like I tell my wife, if you don't stop and check then you'll never know. LOL

Same here, especially when I lived in Atlanta. I'd buy and sell stuff on Ebay all the time, but the advent of internet sales tax pretty much killed it for me. Speaking of pawn shops listing the "good stuff" online, here is that Kruse listed on Reverb from the shop that has it.
