Only variable was the amp head. Everythng else was indentical.

I thought the Dual Rec sounded the best for the riffs-- thought there were times listening to it that felt the cobra's "evil" sound was more appropriate. :D KILLER riffage here!

in fact, what was your recording setup on this? speakers>mic>pre's etc.

Hey Poida (long time no see!), have you still got the clip of the boosted Recto, playing "This Godless Endeavour"?

the cobra open and clear midrange is hard to beat
I usually prefer the 5150 on tape, but the cobra won this one
but it's interest how each amp sounds better in different specific types of riffs
the recto sounds the best for that 0:58 pre-chorus riff

Definitely like them all. I think the dual rec suits this track better, but I think they all sound really similar. I like the openness of the cobra. I like the aggressive grindiness of the 6505. In order, I would have to say 6505, then cobra, then dual rec, but they are all really very close.

that is a funny thing, I definitely agree though, each amp does suit a particular riff more so than the others.
have you tried double tracking with more than just one of these?

i like the third one the best, whichever one that was, but they all sound pretty good.

i have to go with the cobra,i thought the rec sounded muddy

Great comparison! The Cobra didn't have a sense of power that the other two had. I choose Recto for this one. The 5150 clip seemed like you had it turned up too high and something was vibrating. Maybe the foundation

These are clips of Ola Englund yes? Are these DI's public property? I do a bit of reamping myself.

It's bizarre to hear just how different each amp sounds when they all have an SLO preamp and virtually identical power amps.

Output transformers and feedback loops really do make a difference!!

The Dual Rectifier seems to win this one, but the 5150 sounds damn good. The Framus Cobra seems to be missing the aggression the other two have.

Yeah I was just thinking about that after I clicked the first one, I was like . . . waitttttt a second, that sounds familiar lol.

Ola had them posted on another forum awhile back so I guess it's public property. Forgot what forum though, if you do find it he had the DI clip along with the backing tracks.

edit: i think it was ultimatemetal forum.

I owned all 3 of these amps. Not at the same time though.
I would say for me at least that the Cobra is the most aggressive amp out of them 3.
The thing just slays.

Those clips are awesome! Dual Rec and Cobra come close but I think the Recto just edges it, sooo...Dual Rec, Cobra, 5150.
