I just bought a new Peavey 6505+ 3 button footswitch off of amazon and it doesn't work. The effects button lights up and works. However, neither other buttons work, but the channel switch barely lights up and doesn't work. I looked at the soldering and everything seem good enough, but maybe I missed something. Could it possibly be the pin inputs on the back of my Peavey 6505+ head that I bought used recently?

Fairly common. Ran into the same problem with mine. The footswitch and the plug at the amplifier make poor connection. If you plug the cable into the amplifier and move it up or down slightly, you may see the pedal come to life. If that's what happens, I recommend bending the pins on the cable outward ever so slightly so that it makes good contact when plugged in. It's a cheap plug within the amplifier and the pedal housing that are the causes of this, i haven't looked into a replacement that would work and haven't been in a band to need it in a while.

Try shooting deoxit into the socket.

Some amps require the head to be set one way for the switch to switch. For example one of my Mesas.

I have never had a +, just a block letter 5150.
