not the +, the regular. Can i get some opinions on this amp please, and cabinets?

I love that amp. Out of all the amps i have sold (including VHTs and Engls), it's the only one i miss sometimes.

The cabs are kinda crappy imo.

Add me to the list of 6505 boosters! Great amps for sure.

awesome. How do you think it would be with a marshall 1960 with greenbacks? or is it better with G12T-75's? or get the matching cabinet and change the speakers in it?

Best speakers for the 5150 are V30's if you're playing metal. Greenbacks work real well if you're playing less modern type stuff. They also love boost pedals.

i have also used the 6505(+) with 75's and it sounds great. either those, or v30's and i have heard eminence legends are awsome to (the ones in vader cabs).

question for oblivion DC

it sais in your hear section that you have an FJA mod on your 6505. What mod is this, and who are FJA? thanks.

Jerry is the man  . and especially when it comes to the 5150/6505. he is the master.

Yeah - JerryP does great work. And he's friendly and fast too. I had the Mercury Magnetics Transformer and Choke put in, as well as the Clarity mod, the Mid Sweep and the Bias mod. I also had Jerry use a transformer suitable for a 60 watt amp and now I run the amp with only two power tubes @ 60 watts.

Now I'm looking to try it through a VHT FatBottom 4x12 and see whether I like it more than the Marshall 1960B with V30s. Just gotta scrape up 800 more bucks -

I hated the 5150 through my old VHT cab. Way too bright and ear piercing IMO. I wish you would have tried my Bogner cab, you would have loved it man.

Dude, I was sooo wound up from lack of sleep, excess caffeine and the long drive that I could hardly stand still and have a normal conversation much less play anything!! That Bogner did look sweet but I don't have any cash left just now and I know you're in a hurry to sell it. Does it have the synthetic batting inside or is it just a clean shell?

As for the VHT 4x12 - was it fully broken in or was it all brand new and harsh? I had a Boogie Recto 4x12 way back when and I really didn't like it with my 5150 II, how does it compare with the VHT 4x12? How do you think the VHT cab would sound with V30s in it??

Sorry for the thread-jack.

Haha, I can imagine! But yeah, it's got that stuff stapled to the back of it. I had the VHT cab for at least 4 or 5 months, and it never stopped being ear piercingly bright at any time, and I tried it with about 6 or 7 different amps. It would probably sound a lot better with V30's, just because I really dislike those Eminence P-50's.

I probably won't have any luck finding an empty VHT cab anywhere - I might give the ENGL cabs a try instead. I think the Pros come with V30s and they're supposed to be killer.

I'll let you know about the 75's on sunday.....gonna jam on them Saturday.
