Hey richedie,

I have a Custom Shop Fireburst I would like to sell. The guitar has a been set up by Larry Lashbrook. He does all of Yngvie's work.

It's a Peavey HP Special CT Quilt from the Peavey Custom Shop in the color, Fireburst.

I don't know exactly what the fret size is, but they are thin frets.

The neck is exactly the same between the two. PUPs are wired a little different but only so they will split better - the original Wolfgang pups sound horrible when you split them.

I've got a '99 Wolfie Special. The neck is supposed to be slightly uneven. Whatever it is, it's comfortable as hell to play on! The pickups are definitely EVH and very VH sounding. Kinda sounds like there's a OD pedal built right into the pickup! Cleans up very well with the guitar's volume knob, though.

There's a ton of info and comparison done between the EB Music Man, PV Wolfgang, and PV HP here:

I don't think I'd like either or an Ernie Ball Axis.......well I haven't tried the EB! I have a USA Wolf at home right now and the flat radius fretboard is killing me - cramps my hand on chords that stretch over 5 frets or anything other than single note playing. I prefer a 9.5-12" radius board. My Gibsons and PRS feel comfy and no cramping or anything uncomfortable. Maybe it is the longer scale I am not used to. I gues I like the classics, Fender, Gibson and PRS(Kinda classic).

I don't vibe with really bright guitars, and the Wolfgang is almost too hot through my Egnater Mod 50! My 19K Dragon bridge pickups doesn't distort the amp as much as the Wolf bridge bucker! Cleans are not that good. Way better on my PRS CE-22. The all maple neck and board really loses the sweetness I like in a guitar. Same thing with a stra, I like rosewood boards. However it would be nice having something different. An Ernie Ball with the less hot pickups and more rounded fretboard might be nicer for me.

Maybe I'll go in another direction all together. I found a nice Carvin Bolt at a nice price.

Interestingly enough, the Wolfgang pickups are most likely ceramics, read this blog post here:

http://searcystringworks.blogspot.com/2 ... ickup.html

I've always had my suspicions, but have never actually opened up the pickups myself. I'll be trying that the next time I change my strings.

The Wolf pups are very hot, like they've got a built in distortion pedal in 'em. Ceramic mags would probably be the cause behind that, as A2s or A5s don't do that.

I don't have the same problem with brightness as others do, maybe it's because mine is a USA Special (no maple top, all basswood), which are said to have a slightly darker/warmer tone.

+1 on the hand cramping! I was playing mine last night and started to feel some of that! It definitely doesn't happen with my Strat!

Interesting. I know a guy who opened up a bridge Wolfgang pickup and it had an Alnico V magnet.

They do distort the hell out of my Bassman! I am giving this thing back to my friend. Too hot! Heck, my PRS CE_22 has a bridge pickup(Dragon) that has a ceramic magnet and does not distort my Bassman nor does it really sound much hotter than many of my other pickups. So, just because it has a ceramic magnet does not mean it will be a hot deamon! LOL.

The body is too small for me...it digs into my forearm. I have long arms at 6'2".

Instead I bought a 93 Floyd Rose Fat Strat!
