peter ,
when i asked for svetlana winged C EL34's for my einstein with the "late distortion " rating , the biggest tube dealer here in england told me that there was "no such thing" , and that this "early/mid/late distortion" rating was used for groove tubes only .
although he did say that the "GM" could be set to a similar rating ...

i have absolutely no idea what this means , or even whether it is important or not .

is he correct in his statement , and if so , should i have him set the "GM" to any specific level that would equal "late distortion" ( as you mentioned in your thread entitled "announcement" )?

thanks peter - if he's right , then why did you post this in the "announcement" thread ?
"Please go with the late distortion rating.
These tubes have the best quality."

That was related to the Groove Tubes thing.
It has to do with the amount of bias current.
Order simply "normal" SED´s.

What about the Ruby EL34BSTR? What PC # reading is ideal? Does the late/early/medium distortion rating apply to the Rubys?
Looking at http://dougstubes.com/el34.htm there's rating options for the EL34BSTR.
Thanks
