Peters Amplification? 🇨🇦

I had several of his amps, went through the lineup as he added more gain and tighter circuits. The last one I had was a single channel FSM. Kinda wish I had kept it now. I kinda got snobbish in my collection at that point and was only keeping the best amps and trying other stuff from the new builders that were popping up. Always thought i could order/buy his next design. But the Peters amps were absolutely beautifully built on the inside. His stuff looked bulletproof AF.

Yeah I can't believe I let some of the ones I found sit for as long as I did. I remember the gray tolex FSM that was like 1500 forever but I was too busy sniffing the cork of Engl and framus at the time and had JUST sold the chimera.

Never see them anymore, and in fact ever since I sold that single channel chimera in the black headshell I've never seen another for sale. I regret selling that one just for rarity alone if anything. Plus with my darker speakers I'd probably appreciate it more these days. Real shame. Sold it for $800.

If not Peters passing his business to someone, I don't know who I'm thinking of then. I do remember reading of a builder retiring and passing their stuff along to a new owner. It's going to bug me until I rememeber.

I really liked the design of the Format 7 and was going to get one a few years ago. I ended up coming across a Pro Dual Channel Halo/Vega at a good price and got that instead. It's a great amp. It may not be high gain by modern standards, but has enough for me and sounds really aggressive. Pretty much 80's thrash tones all day long.

The owner of Allen amps did that, maybe you're thinking of that?

I had it on my old phone that I lose contacts on, a really old phone tho. I was going back and forth about my Chimera and he offered to speak on phone but yeah that would be cool if you still have it. I can see if he will still build a format 7... bound to have some chassis and parts still around but I'm sure it's a long shot.

Yes, that's who I was thinking of.

I was looking at getting one of his kits to build and read he had sold the company but was hanging around until the new owners got situated.

I never owned one of his amps, but met him at an ampfest in Jersey when I was out there, back around 2008 or so. He was a really nice guy, and his amps at that fest were top notch.
