The sad thing is deep down he will believe he was removed for "speaking the truth"

It's in Bobs hands. Not mine.

Assuming I've done it correctly (never used this feature), guitardo should have no access to the Egnater forum anymore. If he begins ranting about this on other forums he will be warned once and removed if he doesn't comply.

As you guys know, Chris and I aren't big on pulling out the ban hammer so he's welcome on the other forums unless he continues to be a nuisance.

Will this actually work? Wont he just keep coming back with different names? Unless his IP is blocked... but even then, alot of ISPs dynamically assign IPs so that can change.

If he comes back from the dead, I think ignoring is the best option.

Well, I'm testing guitardo's permissions and it doesn't seem to be working. Jeff, if he posts here again let me know and I'll try to find another method... or I'll just ban him if becomes to be too much of a hassle for me.

We'll see.

I think I figured it out... he shouldn't be able to see this forum now, as guitardo.

Thanks Bob, sorry that it came to that, not something anybody really wants to do. It does detract from the function and usefullness of the site though.

depends on the client lease times.. some isp's lease ip's to a modem for a month.. some change daily, some never change.. either way.. visit rig-talk.com from a proxy and all ip blocking is useless.

A proxy certainly complicates it but many legit ISP's don't offer proxy services and I have no issue with blocking anonymous proxies and/or the IP ranges they use.

There are rarely simple solutions.

You think Guitardo is Carl? I didnt even think of that, but I can see why you think so! :loco: :bleh:
