Warmoth seems to offer finishes to their bodies for 185-220$ which is pretty affordable, but i was wondering if you could have your body finished somewhere for even cheaper? Any recommendations?

Lee (GMW) is not taking any work at the moment. Marty Bell could be a choice.

guitarpaintguys.com Seems pretty reasonable, do a bunch of different styles.

Wow! I guess when you’re the best, you’re busy. Haha

I have not done this, but I have heard of people getting an auto paint shop spraying a guitar for few bucks, but I won't pretend to be an expert. Lol.

I read that he is almost retired....or maybe he is now.

Lee had an eye injury, he’s recovering from it. However, he’s not building anymore necks, ever, so no more GMW Guitars. He will still offer paint, repair, set up, etc services, but maybe not right now due to his injury, but I believe he expects to resume those activities soon, until he fully retires anyway. Give him a call, email, or a shout out on Facebook.

I've read something about this as well. Some people have mentioned something about car painters spraying too much coat etc. which supposedly isn't good for guitars. I like my guitars with a thick factory Poly finish so i don't know if it would come out any different from a car painter.

I have in fact talked to a car paint shop owner and he told me that he had painted couple guitars and he seemed to know a lot of about them.

I would imagine that the thickness of the finish would be a case by case thing.

Pat Wilkins is the master of poly. He re-did an EVH Music Man for me a while back. The results were stunning. The most amazing poly finish I’ve ever seen.

I don’t own it anymore but I have pics.

It had some chips in the paint when I got it. And the finish on the back was worn through in one spot. So I had Pat re-finish it.

Here’s before and after shots. The depth of the gloss is amazing on his finishes. He also highlighted the maple figure much better.

Another vote for Pat Wilkins. I sent him a black EVH Wolf Special, told him the BMW paint code I wanted and this is what he sent me back:
