Played a rebel 30 at Guitar Center lastnight. Walked in there, and saw it next to the Tourmaster full stack.

Very cool little combo. Just begs to be cranked. Sounded a lot bigger than most 112s that I've heard. And it sounded great with the rebel extension cab, too. If I played more gigs in NYC, that would definitely be the amp to have.

The drive/clean channels sounded very similar to the EG34/SL2 and BMAN. I really liked the wattage control too. Overall, another great amp.

Can't wait to play the Renegade!

i played one too, sounded good, was hard to get a clean sound that didni't have breakup, but perhaps that was just my noobness on the amp, not that I use clean often. Is there going to be a head version?

I thought they said maybe but not sure it was doable but by popular demand(maybe)

I guess that would pretty much describe the renegade though, not sure if it would be that much different.

I'm interested in the Renegade though. Things don't look very good though... I just got a bill for $3000 in dental work.  And I want to cry!!!

Guitar Center Boston didn't have one this afternoon. Rats!

Just pull your teeth out. That will solve the problem forever!

;)  :D

What the hell were you doing in a Guitar Center?!? I think Id rather go have the dental work.

Agreed. Only time I could see myself going to GC, is when the Renegade is out...I would like to play one of them for sure! :)

Thats what NAMM is for ;)

Well Matt... It's your bandmate buddy who started the thread and he proudly states "...at Guitar Center lastnight. Walked in there..."

You may some counseling to do! Hahahah! :D

But hey. We don't have GC's in Puerto Rico or in Maui so when I moved to California I was please to find such a big store with lots and lots of guitars to play with. So, I can proudly say... I go to GC. Kiss my rear end!

Can you guys tell I don't swear either!  :D

Yes, its clearly time for an intervention. Next thing we know he'll be trading in Eggy for a B-52.

No shit?!? :D

Haha! Well, he can put the innards of his Mod50 into a B-52 Head cab and fool everybody. My dad used to race little powerboats for fun. He had a 150HP engine with a 125HP cover on it. Yes, he would win!

I played one last night, yes at GC. The guys in San Antonio, Glen in particular are cool. I am in Dallas right now and there was a GC down the block. Played the Rebel 30 for about two hours. Everything you wanted the 20 to do but better cleans and the reverb was excellent, and I hate reverb. Ended up buying the Les Paul DC I was playing. GAS hit me. And yes Bruce has stated they will be making a head.

I own a Rebel 20 w/2 112X cabs. I played the Rebel 30 today at Guitar Center with a Tele.

I agree that the clean channel sounds good but the gain channel is just too aggressive when compared with the Rebel 20. The second channel is nice, but the controls for the channel wattage and reverbs just feel cheap. Control layout is nowhere as near as friendly as the Rebel 20 head. Power on/off is in the rear, so are the reverb controls.

The reverb sounds very digital, not appropriate for a tube amp.

I'm keeping my 20. Better tone and more flexible.

I was getting a very non-aggresive sound out of the second channel. I had the gain at about 10:30 - 11:00 and the master at 2:00 - 2:30. Wide open, clean but over-driven, great RTM sound and sitting there ready and waiting for a nice high gain OD pedal for your third problem. I didn't think there was anything cheap about it. I kind of hard to understand that statement based on the fact that you own a 20. Reverb sounded great and could be faded and dialed so far back it was just barely there.

I've heard the comment about the OD channel be too aggressive. I'm truly not sure I understand. There is a knob called gain that you can turn down, right? I'm not kidding...please explain. The 30 does have a little more gain than the 20. Do I not understand the term "aggressive"?

When people say an amp is "aggressive", my first thought is they think it's bright. I don't know :(

I think the thing to remember is that the Rebel 30 is not "Rebel 20 part 2.0". It's a different amp. Dedicated clean and dirty channels, with yes, MORE gain available on the dirty channel.

It's got a totally new vibe, which some may love, some may not.

I think it's really voiced for a person who wants a half stack big sound, but doesn't have the room for it, or travels by subway.
