I've been seriously considering selling my RM4/RT250 rack setup with a crap load of modules, and just getting a Renegade head. I've been jamming through Renegade everytime I go to Guitar Center, and I just dig the overdrive, crunchy yet smooth nature about it.

I guess versatility would be gone because I couldn't switch out modules, but I just don't play a ton of metal and the modules seem to be very catered to high gainers.

Thoughts? Opinions? Or should I just keep the Randall stuff and save for a Renegade so I have both?

Or maybe you can get rid of the RM4 and get an M4 - you'd lose an effects loop but gain the full use of the Egnater dual-channel modules. And with Salvation just starting to release his awesome mods on the Egnater modules, there are great things on the horizon coming this way . . . :2thumbsup:

whoa whoa wait.

Salvation is doing dual channel mods now?

You also might want to consider getting a Tourmaster (You could join Len's *very exclusive* Tourmaster club!). Kinda like a Renegade and Tweaker on steroids- 4 channels, tons of tonal options...
GO TOURMASTER!!!!!!!!!!!

;) ;) :D :D

Ya' know, I actually was looking at the Tourmaster when it first came out. At first, it didn't impress me (My own fault, I was tinkering at Guitar Center and didn't get the full benifet of cranking it) Something about the simplicity of the Renegade just drew me in. Plus, I'm a former Shiva owner so I dig how basic the two channel setup is, with all the bells and whistles :D

When the weight of the Tourmaster is bothering me, I have ocassionally thought about getting a Rebel or Renegade as a little grab and go amp. But they still don't quite convince me to give up on the Tourmaster. You hear a little less about problems with the Tourmaster on this board, although I will guess that is because they likely sell less of them. Still, although I only played it for a few minutes, the Renegade through a TM 2 X 12 cabinet was probably the best sounding thing I ever heard.

Oh yeah.

I've got the Renegade head w/Tourmaster 2x12 cab, blows me away every time!

sweeeeeeeet!

I've had Randall gear *(RM4 and RM100) and currently own a Mod 100, Mod 50 and M4--one of last holdouts I guess   The Egnater stuff will be smoother/darker than the Randall gear overall. Even the Eggie high gainers are smooth.
If you dig the Renegade, pick one up. Maybe keep the RM4 for the extra sounds though. You could run it into the FX return of the Renegade using it as a power amp. You could sell or trade the RT250 even up for a used Renegade.

I did exactly this. I had the rack Rt2/250 and RM4 rack setup. It was nice but found myself just spending money hand over fist with mods and new modules. And i hated hauling that rig around. It was kind of overkill for the venues i am playing. I got the renegade head and 212 cab and couldnt be happier. It is versatile and sounds great. Its actually the frist amp that im not tweaking throughout the whole gig. I for the most part just set to the room and go, and i run it at 16 watts all the time and still sounds huges and great when you have to lower your volume cause of a small room. I wish i could have kept the Rack Rig and used it for the studio or if i ever got back in the touring thing but im not really to upset about it. The RENEGADE ROCKS!!!!!

Awesome, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger and get a Renegade :D

I'm still kicking myself for missing out on a great deal earlier this year. Some cat in Dallas had an Egnater Mica head for $950. It still saddens me.

Sooooo, I also have a Randall RM50 combo, and a bunch of modules I can sell off, and that should fund the Renegade. Looks like I'm gonna be a soon-to-be Egnater convert :D
