So I’m doing a bunch of shows at Sturgis as well as 2 in MI.

I’ll be the Malcolm for the band Noise Pollution and then Ace for one KISS gig. Backline is provided but nothing has been relayed as far as what that means.

Debating between the QC and HX Stomp XL…

leaning towards the Stomp…

I’m mainly bringing them as a “just in case” if the amps are less than ideal and I need a quick alternative.

This’ll be my first time both aging Sturgis and playing with these bands.

This dude is singing for the AC/DC gigs… fook me!

Full Throttle! I remember that reality show. I'd have to assume most of those places would have some decent backlines. Not my scene but killer gigs man!! So you are doing Kiss and Ac/Dc. Maybe a Marshall style preamp pedal, and a couple pedals into an Fx loop could be an easy fix? In any case, sounds like a good time and have fun!

Yeah hard to tell. I think one place is offering Mesa combo’s…

The modelers are really for a “just in case” situation.
Copy that.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Good luck with your shows man, sounds like they will be a blast.

+ 1 to the Marshall style pedal. I've used a Suhr Riot pedal into so many different backlines and it always brings the Marshall flavor. Have fun in Sturgis!

To be honest it sounds more like a first world problem.

Bring the one you can tweak and hook up faster and more reliably. The one you’re the most familiar with.

QC is not the most comfortable to tweak eith on onboard controls iirc, right?

Yeah man we had a blast. Thankfully backline was on for all but one of the nights.
Awesome!

Never played the campgrounds but we played Saloon #10 for 6 nights during the Rally 4 times in the early 2000s. The whole of the Black Hills is pretty nuts no matter where you go during those 2 weeks. An old friend used to run sound for one of the spots for all the acts; that gig was 80% of his yearly earnings..what a life..work 2 weeks a yr lol..then gig the rest for your job. Just weekends lol.

Forget the modeler stuff, why not use a pedal through their backline or use your synergy rig through the fx loop of the backline? No brainer. Modelers suck live. They get soft with volume. Recording is another story but live, they don't deliver the goods imo

Stomp few!

I use UAFX pedals but Helix products would definitely be my second choice

This is true for Helix/Pod family.

I have never had an issue with the UAFX pedals but then again, when I started using UAFX, I got a Walrus Audio Canvas (a direct box made specifically for guitar modelers, amp and cab sims).

So I’ve been out this weekend for shows in KS and and OK. Definitely going to think hard about a tiny but solid fly rig.

80% of our shows have had either a DSL2000 or JCM900 with a 1960 cab. Our OK show, the opener brought a Crate solid state half stack that kept changing channels on its own. Lol!

I have been playing with the ToneX software, and I have been pretty impressed. I think a ToneX One pedal loaded with your favorite profile seems like a nice mini rig.

I'm being honest, I take your word for metal tones to heart because in our old SS Posse days, you knew how to get the tight shit. I honor you for that OG.

Yeah I’ll probably grab that One pedal. I’m Malcolm in the AC/DC trib, so amp needs are super minimal.

Cross your fingers and hope for a JCM800!
