Helllo!

I have received my new MOD 50! It sounded huge ... until power tubes turned blue

Well, that's not the tread

I'd be gratefull if some mod 50 users could tell me if they see a gap between the amp itself and the box at the sides of the amp.
And if someone could post me a pic of the back of his mod 50... I'd like to verify one point...

I'll tell you more when I'll what what I want :D

Power tubes do tend to have a little blue glow...impure atoms or something.

Did you check the bias was correct for the tubes that are in there?

There are slight gaps on both side of the chassis and the head shell box. Not sure what you are asking?

In fact, i wanted to know if the metal plate at the back had tolex or not. mine doesn't but I need i pic on the net which have tolex... well, nothing extraordinary :)

For my other problem, there was a bad shipping of my head and it doesn't work properly, so I may send it back to my dealer... Bruce has taken care of me. but the few hours I can try it were heaven  .
I'll have it exchanged for a working one if all is allright. I'll let you know.

We did a few with tolex due to being out of the metal ones which is what is standard. What is not working properly?

in fact my volume goes high and low like a big tremolo and a buzz. I thought it comes from the tubes but today a tech told me it was something more serious. for your knowledge my head arrived with the Egnater logo and the back metal plate at the bottom of the box; a sort of kit to build by myself :)

There was too a gap between the wood box and the amp itself near from the AC output. Bruce told me it wasn't normal. It must be the result of the careless shipping. And to finish, I had no sound when I power it on twice.

I have one with a Tolex tube-guard, not metal. So I guess mine is limited edition!!!!

How much of a gap are you talking about? My Mod50 head has a small gap between the end of the chassis and the wood headshell. No huge deal to me. No need for it to be airtight... I think 1/16" or so is completely acceptable.

here is the problem

It seems small but here is what I've received:

The consequence is what I said on the last post

Wrong place for the gap  Looks like the same mutha delivered my Bman

You said it!

I power it on tonight and it's ok for now but I have my SM57 close to me in case the buzz comes again to let you hear its agony

Is the screw tight at this point where there is a gap? Looks like it just needs to be drawn up to the wood. I assemble them and I do not send them with loose screws. The logo is bad glue. We have had a tuff time getting glue that actually works. The back bar was installed when it left the US. I wrote too long on it so I would make it fit correct.

thanks for your indications.
The amp should have been thrown from the truck to the ground i my opinion.

i just verify the screw and no! some are not tight! :( : the twos at the right (when you are in front of the amp) the one at the left/back is very tight (the corner with no damage) and right/back is the loosest (the corner with damage) (loosest? does this word exists? :) )

But honestly, even if it can be repaired cosmetically, I would better exchange it because I don't want to pay for the mistake of the shipping company. I swear the sound that it bleeds on me yesterday was awful and wasn't a tone you can expect from a brand new amp. I mean I can't go to rehersal without knowing if my tone will be great or bad... :aww:

Looks like bad shipping to me.Unfortunate.Sorry for you :( I would talk to the dealer and ask for a new one asap!

Jesus, If this was my brand new amp, I would be just as destroyed.
Don't know whose fault it is? but someone needs to replace this guys amp.

I had my dealer on the phone and it's ok for an exchange!

Saturday, I will take it at his office!

Wow!That's great! So quick  !Tell us everything when you'll get it !

Yeah shipping amps is always a risk. I had my Shiva packed to perfection and UPS still managed to screw it up. The buyer wasn't happy. And UPS service didn't really cooperate. I use GLS now for Europe, they are much more caring, and cheaper too.

When my 100B arrived back from service, it was packed in an original XTC box with all internal support stuff, nevertheless, the OT now is bent back by about 1cm, doesn't harm its function, but looks a bit shite.

Sometimes I feel that if you write "Fragile Electronics" on a parcel, those delivery/logistics people use it as an invitation to play Boule with them.
