Any owners and or past owners of the Friedman SS V2 ? Thoughts , opinions, etc.

I have heard some good clips where it seems way less compressed and a bit darker than the BE 100 and more aggressive. I am wondering since I have a Wizard MC II if it even makes sense to think about one???

take a good listen to both these excellent clips by Zack Wish to get a very accurate idea of V1 vs V2

Both are awesome. V2 is darker/denser and more aggro ala shades of Boogie so maybe a bit greasier for fat single note soloing and cleans sound fuller. V1 is more open and raw cranked plexi clear, especially when you crank the crunch channel with no boost, thus the one i personally prefer.

i A/B’ed them at my friend’s studio but only used an iphone to capture my friend and i playing through them so not super easy to hear the subtle differences.

The clean channel of the V2 is more pristine if desired, Steve no longer carries other amps for the cleans.

Great info. ! Good clips as well. Thanks for posting this!

JMO..I think the V1 is more my preference...the V2 is a bit warmer with just a touch less edge to it.

Owned the V2. I was expecting/hoping it would be more open, aggressive and raw compared to the 2017 BE 100 I owned, but it wasn't really.

I would still call it a very smooth and polished amp.....which is not a good/bad thing. Pretty easy to dial in, very easy to play and can get very saturated quickly on the SS+ channel.

An MC or MC2 is very different from the SS: punchier, much more open, better clarity and much brighter overall.

i think the JEL 100 and Plex are the two most open top end sounding Friedmans i’ve played to date. between those and the SS V1 you can’t lose.

I have a V2 and it’s up for sale. It has a great clean channel, the dirty channels sound more modern than what I expected for an amp that is inspired by a Marshall Plexi. The main reason for selling it is that it disappears in the mix. Although it can sound aggressive on its own, in a band context it just gets drowned. For reference, my 2 favourite heads are a Mark V and a Headfirst Alta 100.
