Anyone have any good samples of Plexi tones through the 20th Shiva? I love the Plexi tones I get with the Mod 50 module SL and wonder what in the Shiva gets close.

I dont have a way of recording but the Blue channel on Vintage (XTC 20th Ann). I sold my Mod50, Dont miss it and havent looked back.

I don't have a need for a 100 watt 3 channel head. That is overkill for my jamming/local gig needs but maybe a Shiva. I am betting an OCD pedal into the Shiva's clean would get Plexi type tones just as good. Wish thwy made a 50watt Shiva. :aww:

Don't know if I could ever give up the Mod 50. Best channel switcher to date.

The 20th ann shiva kills man,ask Nick, huge sounding amp bro!!My suggestion is not to play one or you would give up the Mod50 :D Just sayin

I doubt someone would give up the Mod 50 if that is what they like. I mean there are plenty of people who have given up a Shiva for the Mod. It is all personal taste. With the Mod I can get Fender clean, Plexi tones and high gain Marshall. It is hard to be that versatile and sound convincing. I hear the clean on the Shiva is OK.

Oddly enough, the Shiva clean is something that a lot of other amps are judged against.

I was kidding aside,as we know personal tastes vary  And people have done just the opposite

Ya know, the one thing I've come to realize is that so many people "seek" the plexi tone... I get it, sure, it sounds pretty awesome - but forgive me if this sounds kinda rude - if ya want the plexi tone, why not just buy a vintage shit kicked Marshall head and get the authentic plexi tone?? I love the tones of today's amps...I think the sonic spectrum available on the higher end heads today blows vintage marshals and mesas and hiwatts out of the water.

Like, I'm not trying to get on a flame sesh here - it's just, with all the beauty that a Bogner offers, or a Diezel for that matter, I find it funny that so many people are into what they think is the plexi tone; and man, I've played a non-master Marsha in the 80's (was a mid 70's model) and it was a bitch to control - feedback, squeels, hiss - ya ya, it was great once the strings started humming, but it was L I M I T E D ! ! !

I think I'm of the mindset now of rather than look for what once was, I look for what could be...

I agree with this, and it is coming from somebody that had the previous mindset and decided to look to today and the future not the past. I kept wanting the modern amps to have the Plexi Vibe and some do a great job. But then I never dial in the Plexi tones after that as everything I am writing and our band is doing the tone is modern, etc...

That is not to say everybody is like me and would not use this tone or desire it. But if you really want it I agree you should just get one. The cost on quite a few out there are at or below a boutique amp price. I do understand that some may desire a newer amp for issues that could go wrong. But those amps are easy to work on and there are plenty of builders that can work on them easier than the high gain boutiques out today.

Just my thoughts on this, and agreement with the previous post.
