Daniel from http://www.thegigrig.com was kind enough to come to the last show of the recent tour and film a video tour of some of the pedalboards and one of my Cameron heads on stage at the Royal Albert Hall. The Marshall on the side is the head I use as a spare while in Europe, it is a ripping 50 watt Friedman. Enjoy... JW

Wow, that amp and your whole setup sounds incredible.... Thanks for sharing that ! really cool stuff....

Thanks for sharing. I use the "Arriving Somewhere" dvd to give my sound system a work out. :)

Forget about the dirty tone...the cleans and piezo tones are to die for!

John,

Updated your rank here on RT. Welcome...

Sick setup. I'll give a hearty +1 on a colorsound as a clean "enhancer." Got a custom built replicon of the overdriver, and wound up using it the same way.

As a big PT fan, this video is awesome. Sick rig! Of course, you guys gotta see the band live if you haven't already...I think Steve just uses a POD, doesn't he? The last show I went to, the BadCat behind him wasn't even on.

Steve uses the Bad Cat Lynx head and cab. The reason it doesn't look as if it is "on", is that the lighting director actually dims or even unplugs the Bad Cat logo with tape or a gel because the light is too bright for him...(he has three of them, one of them the logo is actually purple now)...

Steve only uses the POD for the baritone work. We have two PRS baritones, in different tunings, which I forget, he has the POD up there everyday just in case we do one of the baritone songs. The POD sounds huge on the Baritone, and it beats carrying a third rig for just a few songs.

Steve has his pedal effects in the loops of the G-system, he programs patches bringing them in and out as needed. He uses the G system itself very effectively, I have to admit some of his "whammy pedal" programming using the expression pedal is insane. He also programs a killer digital "wibble". He then uses the gigrig midi 8 to bring the G system in and out, for pure heavy, the G system is out and it is guitar straight to amp bypassing the digital converter in the G-system, some solos are like that as well with the sound man adding delays for those solos. He runs the Hot Channel very gained out, so that he can solo with just the amp as well, sounds great.

He uses the Carl Martin compressor on all of his clean sounds, and again, his choice of reverbs are perfection.

Steve is in the process of trying a Hughes Kettner three channel amp, Alex from Rush turned him on to it.... so far he likes it... the Bad Cat is gonna be hard to beat but the HK does sound really good. He really likes the thought of a third channel so we shall see.....he will use the gigrig midi 8 to switch the entire rig if he decides to go H+K. Daniel from gigrig did a midi mod for him that will send simple program changes out of the midi 8.
