Possible Ecstasy footswitch problem

Not sure if it's a FS issue, or an amp issue, or user error. I just picked up a used Ecstasy yesterday and I gave it a quick run through to get used to all of the features. I can't get the FX switch on the foot controller to work. All the other buttons work as they should, but the FX switch isn't doing anything. I've tried it with the FX loop button on the back of the amp pushed in and pulled out...but still no response from the FX switch on the floor controller. Am I missing something here? Thanks for any input.

I've heard that if the LED is blown on the footswitch button, it won't function.

Could be a bad LED... or a bad switch.

Do you have any other LEDs lying around?

No, no LED's here. Hopefully it's just a problem w/ the switch/LED.
I'll give a call to Bogner to see what the most likely problem is. Thanks Nick.

I've played around in an XTC footswitch before... how fun it was ;)
Does your loop work without the footswitch connected?
If so, it's just a problem with the FS, either LED, switch or some bad connection

good advice from other posters above about the footswitch LED.

so, the FX loop does work when you push the button on the amp, right?

to test if it's the footswitch LED, you can open the footswitch and unsolder the LED from the circuit. either remove it and connect the wires that were going into and out of it, or solder a jumper across the two LED terminals.

if the LED is the problem, then after you remove it, the footswitch should turn the loop on and off fine. (just with no LED light telling you if it's on.)

if you need a replacement LED, see if Bogner might send you one. those LEDs have a much lower brightness rating than most; it's hard to find them. (ask RockStarNick about the retina-searing brightness he got from using the commonly available, brighter ones. :) )

Thanks guys.
Yeah, the button on back of the amp flips the FX loop in and out just fine.
I actually called Bogner yesterday and talked to Charlie.
He said it's most likely either a bad LED or the FX switch itself went bad.

cool. then soldering a jumper across the LED legs will definitely tell you whether it's the LED or the switch. if the loop switches, it's the LED; if it doesn't, it's the switch.

stomp switches are a lot easier to find than 20-30 millicandella brightness LEDs. :)
