Is it possible to have the A channel with a less gain setting for a light strum and crunch type of sound and B with full lead gain on the Eg5??

Would SL2 be better for this?

I really have liked the clips i have heard with the Sl2, but also the Eg5

ok, sorry, not starting an Eg5 vs Sl2 thread..

What do you consider crunch? EG5 channel A with gain at 10 oclock is already high gain. I think SL2 is more what you are looking for.

If I can get some drive from the Deluxe side on the T/D, I think that would work. What I like for my distortion is having one channel with some nice breakup, but not super saturated, and then having another channel that is fully saturated. IF the Eg5, with gain barely up is already super saturated, perhaps your right. Its hard without being able to try them out.

Any Egnater owners in the Orlando Florida area???

Thanks EWSEthan, I appreciate your help.

I tried this with my EG5 last night and although I liked the light(ish) crunch with the gain on Ch A set to about 9 o'clock, it was still pretty compressed....might not be what you are a looking for...can't compare to an SL2, sorry.

Ok,

Thanks. I don't mind compressed a little bit, as long as its not harsh or brittle. As much as I like high gain for some things, perhaps that will be my second module. My order isn't confirmed yet, so I may just change to start with the Sl2.

I cant speak for the EG5, but I did own the MHG which I imagine has about the same amount of gain. I think you are better off with something like the SL or SL2. Matt is right, once you get to about 9-10 o'clock its already a lot of gain.

Ok,

I will change my order to a T/D and Sl2 to begin with, with either an Eg5 or erect as my next module down the road..

From what I hear, the Sl2 is pretty killer in itself, but I do like a more modern distortion as well.

The SL2 is Killa!!!

I've thought it would be killer to have a combined SL and SL2 module where the common EQ is dialed n a 12 o'clock high and you get a nice present but semi-brown saturated/violin SL2 B lead on B with a aggressive and percussive and slightly brighter SL B rhythm (less saturated than the SL2) on the A. This would be my dream Hectic Watermelon module! One module - a myriad of possibilities.

PERFECT! That would be great!

On the EG5 topic however.....I know with my MHG I jammed with guys on Led Zep and AC/DC tunes running the gain arounf 9:00 and I would just roll back the guitar's volume for a more vintage tone. Doesn't have to be exact for me! ;)

Much appreciated, email sent!!!!

I gave this some more thought.

Anything is possible with the EG-5.

I don't really mean "tonally", I just mean happiness, self-actualization, increased income, physical fitness, more friends, bigger house, etc.

The Eg-5 is more than a preamp module, it's a lifestyle or a religion.

funny

Any of you Eg5 devotees, have any clips of a light gain setting on the module? like gain just barely up, woudl love to hear that.... Thanks for all the input thus far!

I think its hard to not go with the T/D and SL2 for the modules. I use my T/D as a clean and mild break up channel and my SL2 as my mid range distortion on A and my high gain Solo on B. It works great for playing cover gigs.

It's great combo, now I want EG5 as my next module... oh a hunting I will go....
