Sounds awesome. I plan on going through both yours and Nicks videos when I get mine as a nice intro to the amp.

Dave - you should do a spreadsheet for all the CCV owners with various settings you come across. I tend to find something I like, mark the settings and lock it in there. Would be a shame to keep them all to yourself

Or not.... :gethim:

Steve

My settings are easy....Presence & Punch at noon with switches above in the middle.....all EQ's and both gains at 2 O'Clock....bright switches to the far left.

I totally agree with Steve!

We can make it a sticky thread!

We should probably have a sticky thread to answer the various ordering questions as well (how do I pay, how long, etc, etc).

Its a really powerful amp for shaping your tone to the speakers / pickups / room / player .... your not stuck with just one tone... it does many and very well at that!

I am always flicking switches and turning knobs, but I am also changing out speaker cabinets for different sounds. I typically use the setting that are in the recent pictures I posted. As you know, the CCV is capable of getting a lot of different tones. While a lot of us like to set it and forget it, simple switch changes can really affect the sound. The thing I really love is that if the sound is a little too bright, you can just flick a switch above the presence and darken it up a bit. Sure you can lower the presence, but that affects the amp aggression.

I'm with you...I like to try different settings as well...I just always seen to come back to my standard settings. :D

I like to flick the switch over the punch knob to the left...a killer tone.

So Davo - what speakers did you settle on?

I have 3 brand new Mills cabs that just shipped from LA (lower Alabama) and are sitting in NY waiting on a cargo flight. 1 more 4x12 and 2-2x12's. The 4x12 has G12H30's (55Hz ones) in it. It should have a lot of bottom and cream in it. The 212's are V30's for a WDW hook up when I get much less lazy.

You are out of control...

For the Cameron cabinet, I settled on the G12-80's. Once I removed the foam off of the inside back panel, the cabinet sounded a lot better. The 80's really crush in the cabinet….both alone and mixed with other cabinets. It seems to push more mid-range which I like…but I notice that I really change up the amp settings when using the Cameron cab vs. Marshall cabs. FWIW, the Cameron cab is over built, weighs a ton and is rock solid.

Must be that bumper sticker weighing it down!

The cabs were ordered several months ago. Didn't mean for them to ship all at once. Originally got Dave to do me another 4x12. Then, I did a gig and took a W/D/W set up using all 412's. And thought I would get a couple 212's built. He had to wait a while on the 16ohm H30's so they all went out at once. Dave packs cabs in wooden crates. I am sure it looks like I am shipping a coffin to Saudi!

Tried some 80's but didn't like them worth shit. Of course, they were new Made In China Celestions. Just threw them out the other day, along with some other old Warehouse speakers. Taking up too much space in my place.

Think I will go hang out at the new Line 6 forum....

Flick some of those switches above the gain pots... add some blow torch to the tone

there's plenty enough gain right there. for the full power volume i was running. this was such a cool tone dialed in but yeah, i will kick them in to experiment, but then the top end and presence will have to be dialed down or it will be constant feed back and squeal. i pretty much got what i was looking for and had to write these down before changing them. there is more shit to adjust on here than a mark iv. and, it is so responsive to all of it. when you think you have twisted and flicked enough stuff, you go oh shit, here's another one to move around. channel 1 is what gets me with the gain dimed. very cool indeed.

it got loud as i was cruising through dialing this thing in and my wife, who was 3 rooms away was going, where is that lovely one you were playing the other day?

How's the recording going Nick? Tell me how you ended up mic'ing your cabs to capture the tone.

To those that own one, is it possible to back off the attack a bit and make it sound a bit more like a stock Marshall too? While nobody would get this amp to be nice and civilised, it would be good to know if it can do some less aggressive sounds and warm solos on the neck pickup...

To me, it really isn't based around anything Marshall, but yeah, Channel 1 can pack as much gain as a JMP or JCM and has a really good vintage sound on the neck pick up of a LP. I have a 57 in the front of one of my LP's and when you roll off the volume, it will sing brother.

Steve

Been swapping speakers all evening.

The skin ticket for the Cameron (and this is only my opinion) is this:

4x12 Mills with some Scum....2xM75's + 2xH75-LHDC's @ 16 ohm
2x12 Mills with 2 - EV Black Labels @ 16 ohm

Feel like I have been kicked in the chest by a mule. Loads of bottom end, great mids, tame upper mids and a creamy top end. Had the H55's in there but they were too brittle in the upper mids with the rest of the amp dialed in.

Can you hear me now?

Steve

Brittle is exactly what my '79 jmp sounds like right now.. Damn these CCV's seem sweet.

I agree with Steve that channel 1 can get Marshall type tones... On channel 1, I usually crank the treble and mids more and lower the bottom end. It is not 100% since the CCV tends to be smooth sounding and doesnt get brittle like a Marshall can.
