Still working on the Great Pedal Board Mess of 2009. Thinking I need to get a power supply/plug track for it. It would need to do the following things:

1. 6 plugs in a line, big enough for wall warts.

2. Surge supressor

3. On/off switch

4. Possibility of mounting it underneath PedalTrain Pro.

Any suggestions?

;) :D  :scared:

I think any decent power surge strip would probably do fine.

It's more of a concern of physical size, and size of the warts fitting on.

The problem is: there's probably close to a million varieties of power strips, different ones at every home center across the US.

I'm guessing the pedals you're using can't use the PP2+?

Sort of, but also that I have too many that require specialized outputs from it. For example, it has 2 outlets for for Line 6 power level devices, but I have 4 things that need that level.

There is a Y power cable, but the guys at Stompin' Ground weren't sure the amperage would be correct, and that could damage the unit.

I could get a second PP2+- but that would would require plugging in two of those, which is a pain.

I am thinking a good plug track might be the best thing, either in conjunction with the PP2+ or even just selling that off and using nothing but a good plug track.

Not sure how I will resolve this. Still considering your idea of not putting everything on the pedalboard.

Here's what has to get powered:

Digitech Hardwire tuner- can plug into anything; basic.

MoogerFooger Murf 105- Has to go through the wall wart- PP2+ can only power it through that regular plug in the back.

Line 6 jam station, eventide modfactor and time factor. These three things can only power off of the two line 6 levelk outputs on the PP2+. So, a bit of a quandary that I am trying to figure out.

Boy, have effects changed in 3 or 4 years. They sound much better and are much more capable, but trying to get this together is like trying to plan the D-Day invasion!

Thanks!

That's what I am thinking- Basic hardware store thing might do the trick. I'd probably have to give up some pedalboard space, but it might be possible to mount it underneath. I am also considering your idea of not putting everything on the pedalboard-

I think I have figured this out.

A second PP2+ would do it.

Plus the second one into the first one. The Murf can be powered from the rear jack on the second one.

Both can be mounted underneath the Pedal Train.

That leaves the front jacks to power everything else, and gives me maximal space on top of the pedal board.

Costs a few extra bucks, but maybe worth it in the end.

:D ;) :student: :inlove: :loco:

I used to have a pedaltrain and had a pp2+ under the board and a power strip as well, because of a couple pedals that needed their own wall wart. (whammy iv) for example.

Just ziptie the shit out of any power strip under there to the rear bars with the plugs facing the front of the board. I had plenty of room underneath, but I also had a PT-pro, and that thing was enormous.

I have the PT-Pro also, 32 inch.

I hear what you are saying and I will look into it. This would definitely be cheaper. Some of the wall warts are so big I don't know that they would fit under there, but I am going to look at a few plug tracks today.

I suspect I am going to go with a 2nd PP2+ but I want to look at this first.

I wonder if any wall warts plugged into the plug track would have a tendecy to fall out when I transported the thing? That was another thing that occurred to me.

Thanks!

I've learned that especially with the pedaltrains, zip-ties are your friend.

Zip-tie the power strip to the bottom of the board, and then zip-tie the adaptors to the strip. It'll be a semi-permanent installation, but it sure as heck won't move!

Decided to go with the 2nd PP2+. It's more money but it is the cleaner, better, long term solution. Some of those wall warts are huge!

I am willing to bet I can sell off some of those wall warts for a few bucks anyway.

Thanks!
