I love my Rebel 30. I use it in studio to track so many genres of music and love the versatility this amp offers. In fact, I don't even own the various other amps I used to have since they sat around unused for so long after getting this tone monster. But now...... I need power tubes (the EL84C's specifically) and am not able to reach anyone at Egnater support. From reading online, I am led to believe that IF I can get the same matching tubes (Ruby) I may not need to bias my amp. Is this true? Also, can I get the tubes from Egnater to ensure the match? I have many options for tubes where I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but am thinking that if I can pop in the "right" tubes I may be able to just do that and be up and running. I have also read that Egnaters are much easier to bias for a smart but inexperienced amp-guy, and I do have some electronics experience and know how to read a multimeter. I just have no tube biasing under my belt (yet).
So my questions are:
How do I reach Bruce or Nate (or....?)?
Can I purchase the ideal matched tube from Egnater?
Should I bother bother buying tubes from Egnater or just get some online or at a Guitar Center or similar?
Should I tackle the biasing and learn something, or bite the bullet and pay for (and wait for) an amp tech to do it?
Thanks. Like I said, I love my Egnater, regardless of some of the negative experiences I have read about. Mine is a tone monster.

Send email to barrett@egnateramps.com to get support. If you replace power tubes even with the exact same manufacturer and model, you will still want to make sure bias is set correctly. There's good info online as to how to accomplish this with the Rebel. I'm looking at rolling some JJ's or Tungsols through my Tweaker 40 head, so I'll be taking my first trip into biasing as well.

Thanks so much. Ironically, I just got an email from Barrett, so a resolve is on the way. Now my biggest question is about whether or not I should do the biasing myself or pay a tech to do it. Thanks for responding!

After hearing from Barrett, I have tubes on order, am re-familiarizing myself with the multi-meter, and am going to spruce up my Rebel myself. Great amp, great company, monster tones!
