I really want to try my JMP 2203 preamp into my Matamp SL120 power amp.

How do i make a preamp out of my JMP 2203?

Don’t think it can happen without it unless modded. I personally would NOT do that. 🫤. Not sure about the Marshall Jmp-1 preamp circuit but that might satisfy your needs without too much cash out.

I could use one of the speaker out holes - i thought

Then you are getting the entire amp by coming out of the speaker out into your slaved amp. Tone wise, it might be different than just the preamp section alone. By reamping the primary amp?, im not electrically smart enough to say what is happening there... do the OT/PT/tubes etc become negated in that situation.... there will be someone smarter than me to make that call. But I actually would like to know.

Guy jabbers a bit too much instead of getting to the point. Not sure if I agree with how he’s doing it though.

You need a David Bray Line Out Box the connects to your speaker out and converts you speaker signal to a line level. That's what I use with my Superlead to feed effects and a Power amp.

Does that unit negate the power amp section of the head ?
No. this is the way I use it. The line out box is the David Bray unit.
One speaker out goes to my dry cab and the other goes to the line out box.
