I know some of you 80s long haired guys have used this delay so start talking :gethim:

Only one I've tried is an SDE-330.

I bought an SRV2500 on egay, (mislabeled, ended at $95) and it showed up completely destroyed. luckily, I got a refund.

The SDE-3000 is the one I used and it was primo. I've been looking for one for awhile, but man are they expensive compared to what I paid in the 80s...

The SDE-3000 is much superior in terms of options and control to the SDE-1000, however, I'm sure they sound similar. Everyone I knew wanted the 3K though...

I thought it was you that had the 3000, thanks Steve. Yeah the 3000 is holding their value rather well right now

My thoughts is that I cannot afford an Eventide or 2290 so I bought a Rane 26M and will run seperate rack effects for delay, chorus, etc.

Hey Scott, have you considered the Lexicon PCM-41??

Im pretty sure the Roland can save presets, whereas the Lexicon cant.. but i know a bunch of a guys who used these in the 80s aswell as the SDE-3000, or in some cases went back and forth betwen using the SDE-3000 and the PCM-41 in the same rig!

I think the PCM-41's are going a little bit cheaper than the SDE-3000's but i cant be sure!

Hey Bro!!!!

Man the 41s are still coming in at over $1000 I believe due to the 80s mojo!!! I think Curt has one and he wont sell it!

I had a 1000 and liked it even though it was very plain jane in terms of capibility. I made the mistake of plugging it into a crappy 50 year old amp and the circuit board got destroyed. Tone wise it was pristine.

Scott i think that must be the 42! The 42 has the saveable presets option and the digital LED screen too, amongst other things. The 41 was just a slightly scaled down version

One thing i know, is the PCM-41/42 and the SDE-3000 are one of the BEST and warmest sounding delays ever made. The modulation is truly out of this world!! its a shame they arent stereo though.. its pricy buying two of them to run in a stereo rig!

DOH.....your right! The 41 is very basic and no saving of presets and no display I believe.

After hearing that clip Mentoneman put up with Zachmans rig I am determined to make a rack......a bit less expensive though :D

Great idea, theres no other way to get those lush Luke/Landau/Huff tones  If you're looking for a nice unit to do the 80s micro pitch/chorusing, perhaps look into the Yamaha SPX-90s.. they go for less than $100 used on ebay most of the time!!

I had a 1000 for years. It was pretty nice, but I'm not that picky about delay. As long as its not analog, I'm usually ok with it. The 1000 had 4 presets, no midi or anything but lots of footswitch options (for the time). I replaced it with a Quadraverb and liked it better.

I ALWAYS regret buying non-midi gear these days.

I'm just sayin', I would at least go for something that takes Midi PC commands.
