PRIMUS covers Dio "Holy Diver"

i dont know what the story with this is, but im not looking to hear Dio covers if im going to see Primus, im sure there are plenty of songs left off the setlist id actually want to hear instead of a holy diver cover which has been done 1,000,000 times and needs to, and should have been stopped long ago :dunno:

I hate that this older gentleman is using a phone for the lyrics.... If you're going to do a cover LEARN THE DAMN SONG AND BE PASSIONATE ABOUT MUSIC YOU PUSS!!
 
lol. Most negative comments. Opened it up expecting garbage, dude actually sang really well. Made me miss Dio though. Guitar solo made me miss Vivian Campbell more so. That bit was bad.

Dude actually did a respectable job singing. Guest vocalist, cover tune, reading the lyrics, and Les missing the transition to the solo, makes me think this might not have been something that was rehearsed much. Otherwise, total hack move to be reading lyrics on stage. At least he seemed to be making contact with the audience though, and didn't have his face glued to the phone the whole time.

If it's not a song they really planned to do, then it makes sense why the guitar solo is what it is. Not terrible, but I'd prefer more of a nod to what Viv played.

Well; Captain Spaulding could have been live streaming his clown-ness instead of reading. Just a potentially different scenario. Something for the grandkids to remember. 🤣

Yeah that's kind of his schtick. He seems to play rhythm fine if not quirky and he sometimes gets lucky on the 'just make random noise' parts of songs (eg - Spegetti Western) but many his solos are...Corey Feldman-esque? :unsure:
 
I can’t handle much of this. Guitar tone sucks, bass is over powering…I scrolled to the solo and the playing sucks. 🤷. The clown costume fits.
 
When I saw Dream Theater perform with Devin Townsend, he popped out his phone and pulled up the lyrics to one of their songs so he could sing it on the spot. He put LaBrie to shame so hard that I felt bad for the guy.

Not that DT has the best voice but he was absolutely killing it that night. I was surprised.
 
I was surprised by how well puddles pulled off his inner dio. It was cool.
 
After having to work with a bass player who was really into Primus I grew to hate them even more.
 
I see a real amp...
Thats a + for me...
Solo was fine...
