I finally decided to try and set up my Randall RT2/50 to channel switch when using my Egnater M4. It doesn't appear to be working so any help would be appreciated. In my case I do all my channel swithing using a Rocktron Midi Mate. My M4 switches just fine through all 8 channels using the Midi Mate. I hooked up a 5-pin midi cable from the Midi through jack on the M4 to the Midi in jack on the Randall RT2/50. As I read, I selected the M4 module I wanted and then selected the amp channel I wanted. After that I held in the amp channel select button for 3-5 seconds but nothing happens. Should the amp click or a light flash? I've tried two different 5 pin midi cables with the same results. Does the cable have to be a 7 pin? Do I have to mess with any M4 switches? Am I doing somthing wrong or is my amp or M4 got a problem? I don't have any other Midi devices. Any easy way to isolate the problem? Thanks
Mike

you are using the M4 and RT2/50 on the same midi channel correct?

Randall has had a random issue with shipping the RT2/50 set to MIDI channel 16 instead of channel 1. Verify this by sending it program change data from your controller on MIDI channel 16 or in the OMNI mode. If the amp switching works, you need to remove the lid ( five million screws) on the RT2/50 and change the DIP switch settings. Contact Randall or maybe check the manual for proper setting info.

That's exactly what I had to do. Changed the dip switches on the midi board inside the RT2/50 and voila, the channel switching worked with my M4 and MidiMate.

Well Bruce was right! My RT2/50 is set to Midi Channel 16. I called Randall and their tech rep couldn't tell me how to change my RT2/50 to Midi Channel 1 so he emailed thier engineering group. So far they haven't responded. I have the cover off but I don't see any DIP switches. Does anyone know how to configure it for Midi Channel 1 operation?

Thanks

Mike

I'd take a guess and say It's a binary switch ...but I think there may be a couple of extra dip settings (omni mode ?) .....I can't remember and I never took pics of teh internals of my RT2/50...dip switches should be on teh MIDI board (attached to teh MIDI IN/THRU?) Here's the same thing for the RM100 head..maybe it matches:

MIDI CHANNEL SELECTION:

The MIDI Channel (1 - 16) is selected via an internal four position DIP switch (S1). The MIDI Channel must be selected with the power off.

CHAN. S1-4 S1-3 S1-2 S1-1

Well I found the switches and moved all of them to the other setting and viola, it now works!!

Thanks

Mike

i had the same problem with mine.

took the top off.

hard to see those switches on the midi board because it is directly below a capacitor!

made the adjustments and now it works like a champ!

thanks

i am glad that i saw this thread!

Did the RM100 guide match? Did either of ya grab pictures?

It'd be nice to round up this thread as reference for when this Q comes up again (and it does! :D)

I'm having the same problem here, but I already changed the MIDI switches on the RT to 1. What should the switches be on the M4? I believe the first four should be set to 1, but what about S5, S6, and S7? Thanks!!!

I had the same issue, but instead of getting inside the RT2/50 I set the M4 for CH16 and transmit from the MidiMate on CH16.
