I've recently acquired a new effects floorboard, a TC Electronic Nova System. It sends MIDI program change commands, and I want to use it to switch channels on my VH4.
I have previously been using a POD XT Live for this purpose, and everything was working fine. Now, with the Nova System, even though I have it configured to send program changes on the same channel I was using before, the VH4 will not respond to it.
I'm nearly certain that the Nova System is sending proper program changes on the right channel, because I've been able to get it to change programs on other MIDI gear. I also connected both the POD and Nova to a PC running MIDI-OX, which allows you to display the MIDI messages generated, and both units are generating the same program change data, on the proper channel.
I have no idea why the Nova doesn't talk to the VH4, while the POD XTL can, particularly when it looks like they both send exactly the same data.
Any ideas?
