Hello people,
if I grind my g system serial (in the insert loop) and i go with the guitar in the g system it sounds like shit (no power, no feedback, little sound). so that the effects must not distort I take the input far lower! If I go with the guitar directly in the amplifier it is much better. i can take the input level much higher (18 db) and nothing distored in the clean channnel!!but than I cant use the loops !! Can somebody help me?

thanks daniel

I'm not an expert, but why are you using the inserts and not the (serial or parallel) loop for it?

By default I think the insert loop is off in all presets. Make sure you have enabled this in case you have not.

dont panic, read the manual, use the series loop. use 4 cable method. THEN use search function here, i have posted a lengthy description of my internal menu setup in g system for the best sound at least twice. you can find it on here i promise. you have 2 top pieces of gear that will sound great together but with all of the options that both units offer you must take the time to learn how to setup properly. you arent plugging a pedal into a twin ;)

hi,

i use the insert of the g-system and the seriell loop from the amp

Hey A. Wood,

I am a tool and can't seem to find your settings for the Herbert and the G system when using the search function. Would you be willing to post a link or maybe the search keywords? I and another individual on the TC forum would be in your debt.

iam searching too and find nothing. But i think i have solve my problems. the 4 cable method is not bad, but its not the 100% pure Diezel sound!!! cause i must put down the input level from 18 db to 11 db. but then the Wah wah still distored (if i play clean!!!). Delay and Tremolo is ok!
So i put the guitar direcly in the amp and the g-system with the 3 cabel method (VH4S) in the seriel loop. the only problem i cant use the loops from g-system. but the Vh4s have enough loops (-:

regards Daniel

ok i will try to keep this short. 4 cable method. guitar to gsystem. g system to front of amp. send on amp to g system. g system to return. using series loop on herbie. within g system make sure all of your global levels are set correctly (i just used my ear) now the biggie: set the boost function level all the way up ( ithink its 10 db if i remember right). now always leave boost on with every patch you use (i dont want to get into length but its not true boost, its taking volume away then adding it back in when you use boost. like a bypass kinda, dont worry bout details) so now you are getting a neutral gain level. all volumes should match as if g system wasnt in line. dont worry bout not having boost function as herbie has 2 master volumes and channel volumes. if any other help is needed check the g system forum at tc electronics.com best of luck

Thanks Andy. Sorry for the hassle. I thought you were referring to global level settings, which I wouldn't mind having, not just the boost. If you have a G and don't set the boost as Andy has suggested, DO IT! It will really help a ton.

;) sorry bout globals, dont remember and my rig is on the bus/trailer. use your ears you will be fine on globals, consult manual.
