Hi there,

I got a huge problem with the Herbert....the volume disappears and comes back during playing.....what could be the problem?!?
Any idea??

does it do this all the time while the amp is on? How often does it do this ?

it happens for the first time today....first i thought it would be a cable....so replaced it.
then i checked with an other guitar...it appears again.
it appears every few seconds, or minutes...couldn't see any coontinuity in it.
but i switched off in order not to damage anything

did u try a different speaker cable? i know alot of times tubes can be the problem. is the amp new or older? i would try if you have some extra power tubes laying around try that.

tubes are about 3 months old?!?
speaker cable....not possible, as the other amps work well over this cab

Plug your guitar strait into serial return, see if you still have the "cuts". Let know.

seems like it is working with the cable plugged into the serial return....

so what could be the prob :(

oh you mean again?!?!
:aww:
increadible how many tube problems i got with the herbert.
anyone else got those problems more often?

There is a reason Diezel's sound the way they do. If it means pushing a $ 9.00 Chinese preamp tube
a bit harder to get the tone of the gods, so be it.

It's not the amp, it's the tubes. Tubes/Vales are not made for 11,000 hours of medical/Military equipment service anymore.
If anyone is to blame it' the boss of the twelve year old girl getting paid a dollar a day to make 5,000 of them.
Reflecting for a moment, it is a very small issue in the greater scope of things.

ohohoh....i never wanted to blame my little herby  ....i love this amp and will keep it forever.
just was wondering if someone got the same issues and wanted to know how they solved it....maybe by putting in some tubes which lasted longer. you know what i mean?

I know exactly what you mean. If we all only knew to buy Mullards and Telefunkens when they were less than a dollar. :)
But seriously, the tube/valve industry is getting more demand and selling more volume now than in the past decade, but the QC is straight in the gutter.

Swap them around to see if the problem persists or goes away. If it persists you may want to post a pic of the (smaller) filter caps. What is the serial number of your Herbert?

Hello,

no still no news.....i haven't been at home.
I will check today to swap preamp tubes..

What do you mean with the small filter caps?
Wher to find these? :aww:

First check the preamp tubes. The FCs are on the board inside the amp - my guess still are the preamp tubes, so make that first.

changed the tubes...seems like the problem disappears....but still feeling strange somehow.
i found that a fuse in the inside is blown....it is a 1,6at fuse.
could this be the prob?
what is it for?

thanks for the help here guys!!!

peter, does this fuse mean anything to sound?
