..I can't stop playing it!!
Goddamn this thing is a monster. I'm having a blast with the vx and erect right now. There's no "oh just 5 minutes" when you turn it on..hours go by easily.
With two month into owning it I think I should be clear of most of the honeymoon phase, and this just gets better and better each time I turn it on. I don't know if it's the amp or the el34s (both probably!), but this thing has just incredible mids. Very full sounding across the spectrum, and I can't wait to crank this thing on stage. It's just perfect really.
I feel like every time I turn it on I find a cool variation or new tone that I would have otherwise not used. Today's new tone: had my mccarty and had set it up for a medium/high gain full sounding bridge, and then switched it to the neck pickup (which is currently too close to the strings) to get this awesome on-purpose wooly sound going. Sounds almost like a medium distortion guitar playing along side an overdriven bass with a little bit of fuzz on it. It's very very cool and a ton of fun. Fits along with Muse to some "Bohemian Like You" kind of things. As with all modules, riding the volume knob and splitting the pups just opens up that many more shades. An example of a tone that I would be really frustrated if it was the only thing the amp would do, but since it's just one of the many options, I love having it available in my "tone toolbox".
