Problem with my tweaker?

I have had my Tweaker for around a month with no problems whatsoever. One of the original 6v6 was blown when I got the amp (have been using 6L6) but I acquired another(Egnater branded Ruby 6v6 from a friends tweaker) and just put it in today along with the other stock 6v6 that was good. Immediately when the amp is taken off standby it starts making these static noises like hissing/popping. Kinda like frying bacon. It only does this when not playing but when playing amp seems to sound fine. I checked my cable and even unplugged the cable and it still made the noise. I wiggled the speaker cable and no change. What could be causing this noise? The 6v6 tube I put in being mismatched with the other? Bad pre amp tube? Looking for any suggestions.

I've recorded a clip with my phone in which you can hear the noise but I don't know how to post it.

I changed out all the preamp tubes with a spare I had laying around and it still made the noise with the 6v6 however I changed the 6v6 for EL34's as well as went back to the 6L6's and the popping went away but it still had a prominent hum which is probably normal. Could it just be bad power tubes or could it be something worse?

Thanks

Sounds like a tube problem. Power tubes need to be matched to some degree. I don't know if that could cause the problem. You can try replacing the power tubes with a SET of good ones and see what happens.

It kind of sounds more like a preamp tube. You might want to try swapping them all out to check. Good luck!

Well I swapped the power tubes for a matched set of eL34's as well as a matched set of 6l6's and the popping went away but there is still a hum which may be normal. I haven't tried a new set of matched 6v6's tho. And your right about replacing all the preamp tubes.that will be my next option.

If it is one month old then the tubes are still under warranty. Contact Egnater for more info.
