Hey, I purchased a used Rebel-20 last week. I really like the amp however, this morning, I turned the amp on and the Master, Trebel, Middle, and Bass controls were not working. There is sound coming out of the amp however, I can not control the volume or tone. The Tube Mix is working, the Watts is working but is noisy, and the gain works... When I look in the amp 2 of the tubes are lit up bright and 2 are very dim...

Hoping that this is a tube issue.... Or should I take it back to GC for a refund???

Thanks

Sounds like tubes to me.
Does your warranty cover tubes ?
If so - use it :)

The stock tubes in these amps are low quality. If you like the amp spend the money and retube the whole thing.I always replace all the stock tubes in any new current production amp I use. I especially found the preamp tubes in my Tweaker head to be pretty bad. One of them shorted out and made horrible noises. Good Luck!

I have a funny feeling, it's not the tubes at all but maybe a cold solder joint or something like a spade connector is loose. If you have sound coming out, I would think the tubes would be okay. As far as cheap tubes, mine came with JJ's.

Mine came with Ruby branded tubes. Terrible. Tube swapping is a lot easier than trying to hunt down a cold solder joint on one of these tiny amps. I thought about putting a bias pot inside my Tweaker. Not enough room to do it.Yes you can still have sound coming out even if a tube is dying or if only half of it is working. Preamp tubes have two sides. Power tubes can get real quiet right before they fail.Or in the case of my 1982 Marshall JCM800 combo get real loud before they short out and kill your O.T.
